American Sign Language

ASL

American Sign Language is the main sign language in the United States, and the main sign language for many deaf communities in the US. The courses in the ASL program at Chabot college will teach you communication skills through the language of sign. The courses also develop students’ understanding of deafness and deaf culture. The program will prepare you to use ASL for your personal or career needs, whether you are a deafened adult, want to communicate with family or friends who are deaf, want to work as an interpreter or bilingual speaker, or just want to learn a new language! Most ASL courses are CSU and UC transferable.
