Maria Rodriguez-Larrain

Maria Rodriguez-Larrain
Director, TRIO & MESA
Born in Lima, Peru and raised in the South Bay, I’ve studied at De Anza College, UC Santa Cruz, SF State and CSU East Bay all on topics related to ethnic studies, the immigrant experience, politics, and education. I started my career teaching test prep and advising for college admissions before moving on to supporting college prep programs for first generation students and implementing K-12 math and literacy programs and student information systems in school districts including Hayward, Oakland, East Side Union, Sac City, Fresno, Portland and Seattle Public Schools. Shifting to higher education, I’ve worked at Chico State, CSU East Bay, and Chabot with a focus on diversifing teacher pipeline, classroom experiences for teacher candidates, tutor/teacher training, and instructional support programs. I love the students I get to work with at Chabot so come chat with me any time about any of the topics I listed above or Peruvian food, queer representation in any tv show, and sci-fi movies!
