This week would not be complete without acknowledging the outstanding work of Christine Herrera! You have contributed countless hours to the classified professionals on the Chabot campus through your work on behalf of the senate. You are continuing as our treasurer and taking the lead on our Classified Senate Gives Back work group. With a kind and giving spirit, you volunteer to work on our yearly appreciation weeks, year-end Governing Council celebrations, the Carlson Award Committee, the Classified Professional Development Block Grant subgroup, and our senate retreat each summer. In support of shared governance on campus, you have just finished three years as tri-chair for our Facilities committee. You have really grown and taken the lead in this role. Although you are devoted to your work as a Senior Administrative Assistant in the Office of the President, you shine and your heart is in serving the classified professionals of our campus. We are lucky to have you in our classified family. May be get back to flipping pancakes together next year during Classified Appreciation Week!

This last year I have been able to join committees and events and finally put faces to names of all the movers and shakers that really keep this campus running. The leadership teams on the Classified Senate and SEIU 1021, as well as the leads of the various shared governance committees make this college safe, equitable, run smooth, and spectacular, for the students, the faculty and administration, and of course, their fellow classified professionals! Also, I wish to express gratitude to the Classified Professionals we don't often see but we enjoy the benefits of their work: the hard-working members of Maintenance and Operations who keep our campus running and clean (especially during a pandemic), Shipping & Receiving who physically brings in the resources we need, Computer Support who keeps our technology running and up-to-date, Campus Safety who keep our campus safe, Business Services who ensure we have the finances to serve our community, every administrative assistant that keeps their division running, and the hourly/on-call workers who fill in when departments are understaffed.
