Congratulations to Chabot College Professor, Scott Hildreth, for being selected as
a 2021 NASA Airborne Astronomy Ambassador!
Professor Hildreth will be one of the first community college faculty from around
the country to participate in the next cycle of NASA's Airborne Astronomy Ambassador
Program. This will also provide Professor Hildreth with an opportunity to fly on the Stratospheric
Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA), a Boeing 747SP aircraft modified to carry
a 106-inch reflecting telescope.
Professor Hildreth will be working with astronomers using the telescope on current
research projects and share this knowledge with our students through some very engaging curriculum
activities.

press release for more information about the NASA Airborne Astronomy Ambassador Program.
