The Excel program offers eligible ESL students in-depth academic support and motivating students to stay in college, graduate and/or transfer to a four-year college or university.

Spring 2017 Aspire & Excel student workshops guide


Chabot students must:

  1. Be a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen;
  2. Have a need for academic support;
  3. Be one or more of the following:
    1. First Generation College Student;
    2. Low Income (as determined by the federal government);
    3. Eligible for services through the Center for Disability Services.

Services Provided

  1. ESL Support Courses promoting English learning in the context of the curriculum so students can apply their English skills immediately to their current coursework.
  2. Individual counseling and other services for :
    1. Academic support
      • Tutoring and study groups
      • College Readiness and Success courses to develop your academic survival skills
      • Priority registration and enrollment assistance
      • Assistance developing your Student Educational Plan (SEP)
      • Transfer assistance
      • Campus visits to local four-year colleges and universities
    2. Career & personal growth
      • Career exploration workshops
      • Cultural enrichment activities
