Dov Hassan has been running the Theater Arts Department at Chabot College for several years. He teaches Acting and theater History and directs plays for the theater program. Some of the plays he has directed at Chabot are A Midsummer Night's Dream, In the Heights, The Grapes of Wrath along with many others. Professor Hassan also works professionally as an actor in the Bay Area. He has worked with The Aurora Theater, Central Works, Oakland Theater Project, Shotgun Players, and other leading theater companies in the area. He has a deep interest in Yiddish Theater, and will be spending his sabbatical for the 2024/2024 school year researching and writing about his uncle Moshe Schorr, who was a playwright, actor and producer in the Yiddish Theater movement.
