FAQs

Question: I clicked on a link in the template and it won't open. Why not?

Answer: There appears to be an issue with Microsoft Suite products and malware. (This is a Microsoft issue and not something we can fix.) If you have trouble opening any link, then simply copy the link, paste it into an open browser window, and it should open.

There also appears to be an issue for some Mac users when Safari is the default browser. We suggest using a different default browser (e.g., Chrome) and then the links should be click-able.

Question: Why do I have to fill out an electronic template and then later fill in the information in Qualtrics? Isn't that duplicative?

Answer: In brief, the electronic template allows you to upload the document to GoogleDrive or OneDrive and collaborate in real time. This is not possible to do in Qualtrics. Qualtrics allows us to more easily analyze, synthesize and visualize data. The second step of copy pasting the data from your template into Qualtrics should only take 15-30 minutes, but allows for advanced analysis, reporting, and distribution of college wide-trends. There is a ppt that explains the "whys?" of this process in detail.

Question: For Resource Requests, do we enter all requests into Program and Area Review (including our ongoing regular funding) or just new requests that are outside of regular ongoing funding?

Answer: PRAC advises the campus to enter new requests only. Supply needs should be global in nature, not specific.

Question: In the PAR template "Planning" section and for "Resource Requests," we are advised to align goals and requests with the Educational Master Plan (EMP). The EMP is 104 pages! Can you be a little more specific?

Answer: The Educational Master Plan has five "Mission Critical Priorities" that were developed through a collaborative process, seeking feedback from diverse campus constituents. These priorities are: Equity, Access, Pedagogy and Praxis, Academic and Career Success, and Community and Partnerships. You can learn about these priorities on pages 7-11 (of the PDF) of the Educational Master plan (also numbered as pages 2-6 in the document). We suggest aligning goals and funding requests to the five Mission Critical Priorities.

Question: When I turn in my PAR template on October 7th to my Dean/Manager, what do I include?

Answer:

  • Academic/Service/Administrative electronic PAR template
  • Classified prioritization request form (one per classified position request, if applicable)
  • Faculty prioritization form (if applicable)
  • Tell your Dean/Manager if you have filled out the CE funding application for any of your resource requests, if applicable
  • Tell you Dean/Manager if you have filled out the SASE funding application for any of your resource requests, if applicable
  • Academic programs: Please check with your Dean about whether/what they are requesting for discipline plans

Question: Why are they asking for "Project Name" under Resource Requests?

Answer: PRAC is hoping to better organize funding responses so requests that all belong to one project, but are in different categories and thus go to different committees for funding decisions (e.g., technology, facilities, human resources, etc.) will get one funding response, as opposed to getting parts of their project funded by some committees, but not the whole project.
