| Question |
Answer |
| I'm enrolled in a course that uses Blackboard. How
do I login? |
- Online Courses: first, if your instructor has an
instructional website, go there and read any special
announcements and directions. Most instructors will then direct
you to How to Login to Blackboard to find
out how to login to Blackboard. If you just enrolled in the course(s)
through Class-Web, note that it takes about 4 hours to be uploaded
into Blackboard (if you registered past 5pm, or during the weekend,
please wait until the following morning to login to Blackboard). If
you need additional help, use our Request Help.
- On-campus Class: Because not all instructors use
Blackboard or use it from the beginning of the semester, you should
wait until your instructor directs you to login to Blackboard. Only
instructors who submit a request will have a Blackboard course site.
If your instructor uses Blackboard, they should have provided you
a handout or directed you to How to Login to
Blackboard.
|
| How do I know if my course uses Blackboard? |
Your course(s)
uses Blackboard if:
- It's an online or hybrid course as indicated in the
schedule of
classes in ClassWeb.
- You went to your on-campus course meeting(s) AND your instructor
told you to login to Blackboard. For on-campus courses, instructors
use Blackboard only if they request a site, so students should only
login to Blackboard if their instructor directs them to do so. Instructors
should have provided you the 1-page handout, "Logging
In to Blackboard"

How do I login to Blackboard?
|
Click on How to
Login and complete ALL steps, especially entering your email address. |
| I just enrolled in a class (through Class-Web)
but I can't login to Blackboard. |
If you just registered through Class-Web,
please wait about four hours (if it is past 8pm, wait until after 5am
the following morning) before attempting to login
to Blackboard. More specifically, students are uploaded to
Blackboard during the following times: 8am, 12pm, 4pm, 8pm, and 11pm
(including weekends and holidays). So for example, if it is 8:45am,
you must wait until right after 12pm to login to Blackboard. If
you have waited more than four hours (except between 8pm and 5am) and
you still can't login, check the next section for common causes to error
messages, or Request Help. |
| When I try to login, I receive an error
message |
If you tried to login and received
one of the following error messages, read on for what you can do to
correct the problem.
- "An error occurred while the system was processing this
login request"
- This error message has to do with the USERNAME
- Is this for a term that hasn't begun yet? You will not
be able to access future-term courses until the term begins.
If you have never had a class in Blackboard at Chabot before,
you won't be "uploaded" to the system until about
1 week prior to the start of classes.
- Are you sure you typed in your
username correctly?
- Are you sure there are no extra spaces (do not copy/paste
your password).
- Did you just enroll in the course?.
- Are you sure that your instructor
has a site in Blackboard?.
- None of the above apply? Request Help.
- "Could not login. You have not provided valid authentication
credentials"
- This error message has to do with the PASSWORD
- Did you follow the
password format?
- Are you sure that your "Caps Lock" key is turned
off? (password must be lowercase)
- Are you sure there are no extra spaces (do not copy/paste
your password).
- Had you changed your password from the default? Try to reset
your password.
- None of the above apply? Request Help.
- "There was a problem with this login request. Contact
the system administrator. "
- "An error occurred in the authentication module: Error
occurred while trying to lookup the current session."
- Your browser is
caching the old login session cookie. The login fails because
the session number in the cookie has been deleted.
clear your cache settings, and be sure that your browser
checks for an updated version of the page every time (Tools
> Internet Options > General Tab > Browsing history
> Settings > select "Every time I visit the webpage"
).
|
| When I try to login, I have to login twice |
If you find that you have to login
twice, most likely you have the wrong login page as your bookmark/favorite.
Make sure you begin with http://clpccd.blackboard.com
and not the next page. If you corrected your bookmark/favorite and you
still have to login twice, you may also try
clearing your cache settings (opens in a new window). |

What can I do if I forget my password?
|
|
My first or last name
is only one letter - what is my password? |
As long as you only have 1 letter
as your first or last name, and it is not a 2-part first name (for example,
say your first name is F Murray), then the password length would be
less than 8 characters. For example, if your first name is "J"
and your last name is "Johnson" and your W number is 123456789,
your password would be jjo6789 (only 7 characters). If you still have
problems logging in, complete our Help Request form. |
I can login, but
I do not see the course(s) that I am enrolled in. |
Review each item:
- You will not be able to access future-term courses in Blackboard
until the term begins.
- Are you sure the class is not a late-start class? Check
Class-Web.
- Did you just register? If you just registered through Class-Web,
please wait about four hours (if it is past 8pm, wait until after
5am) before attempting to login to Blackboard.
More specifically, students are uploaded to Blackboard during the
following times: 5am, 8am, 12pm, 4pm, or 8pm (including weekends).
So for example, if it is 8:45am, you must wait until 12pm to login
to Blackboard. If you have waited more than four hours (except
between 8pm and 5am) and you still can't login, Request
Help.
- If an online course, did you check to see if your course requires
an on-campus meeting prior to logging into Blackboard (i.e. some
English 1A courses)? Check the How
to Begin your Online Course webpage to make sure.
- Are you sure the instructor uses Blackboard?
- If you are certain you are either enrolled in an online course
and/or you are certain that your instructor is using Blackboard,
it is possible that the instructor has not yet made the course site
available to students. Whether an online course or on-campus course,
check to see if your instructor
has a website for more information or find
your instructor contact information and contact the instructor
and ask them if their Blackboard course site is available.
- If none of the above applies, Request Help.
