Follow these steps and complete them by the due dates


5/27/21: Sign up for the Drive-Thru Reception

Graduates will drive around the campus for congratulatory greetings, a professional graduation photo will be taken for purchasing, and grads will receive a special graduation gift. Those who sign up for the Alumni Association will receive an additional Alumni gift.

Program

 

Virtual Commencement Ceremony

On Saturday, May 29th at 10am, the virtual Commencement Ceremony will include:

  • Congratulatory messages by the Chancellor, Board of Trustees President, Chabot College President, Senate Leadership and Student Keynote Speaker
  • Graduating student slideshow with Name, Picture and Certificate/Degree

Drive-Thru Reception

This will be an in-person celebration at Chabot College on Saturday May 29 starting from 3:00 pm.

Graduates will drive around the campus for congratulatory greetings, a professional graduation photo will be taken for purchasing, and grads will receive a special graduation gift. Those who sign up for the Alumni Association will receive an additional Alumni gift.

Will I be required to stay in the vehicle?

Everyone will be expected to remain in their vehicles with a few exceptions. Bathrooms are available and emergency services will be on site if needed. Also, graduates/candidates will have the opportunity to take a professional photo outside of the car at a designated time.

Will I be required to wear a mask?

Anyone coming to campus is required to wear a mask. Safety of fellow graduates and Chabot employees is priority #1.

Can I still participate if I don’t have a vehicle?

Yes, come to campus during your registered time and we will have vehicles and drivers available to take you through the drive- thru reception.

What if the time slot I want is not available?

Reservation times are an important part of managing traffic and minimizing the waiting time for participants. Please pick the time that works best for you and do your best to be on time.

What happens if I show up early or late for my reserved time?

No graduates/candidates will be turned away for being late. However please do your best to be on time and prevent traffic issues.

Is there a dress code?

Graduates/candidates are encouraged to wear their cap and gown for the professional photos.

Am I allowed to have people in the car with me?

Please follow the most up-to-date CDC guidelines for small gatherings when coming to the drive through reception.

Is it ok for other family and friends to join me in a separate vehicle?

Multiple vehicle caravans are allowed. Please arrive on time together to ensure that your party stays together throughout the reception.

Special needs assistance: How can you request accommodations?

Graduates or their guests requiring special needs assistance, such as an interpreter for the deaf or mobility assistance, can contact:

  1. Nathaniel Rice at nrice@chabotcollege.edu to find out more or to set up accommodations.
  2. Alternatively, you may call and leave your contact information and special need request with the Disabled Student’s Programs and Services front desk at 510-723-6725.

Diploma/Certificates: When will you receive them?

  • No diplomas or certificates will be distributed at the ceremony.
  • For spring candidates, you will receive notification via email when your diploma is being mailed out to you. 

Summer graduates, can you participate?

If you anticipate completion of your graduation requirements by the end of Summer 2021, follow the above steps to be included in this year’s Commencement.

Additional viewing options: Can you view the ceremony online or on TV?

The Commencement Ceremony will be:

  1. Shown on this webpage;
  2. Shown simultaneously on Comcast 27 (in the Hayward, San Leandro, Union City, and San Lorenzo areas) and on Channel 99 for AT&T U-Verse.

After the premiere showing on May 29th, 10:00 am, the virtual Commencement Ceremony video will be availabe on this page, for viewing by anyone and at anytime.
