How to Get Into
Databases Off-Campus
If you're using Blackboard, please read
Getting Into Databases Through Blackboard,
first. Then follow directions listed below.
| 1) Go into a database from any of the Library's web pages such as Magazine, Journal, Newspaper Articles and More or the Resources by Subject. You will receive a screen that will ask you for your username and password such as the example on the right (Note: the example on the right is only a graphic. It is not interactive. You need to select a database first before receiving the username and password screen). |

2) Your username is your W ID number. If you do not know your W ID number, look it up on Class-Web, using your social security number as your user name and the password you have chosen or your birth date. |
|
|
3) Your password is as follows-- first two characters of first name, followed by first two characters of last name, followed by last two characters of your W ID number. When done, click on Login. Example: Jane Chabot has a W id number of W98765432. That means her username would be W98765432 and her password would be jach32 ja--Jane, ch--Chabot, 32--W98765432 |

If you did not get into the database successfully and have ComCast Cable as your ISP, go to Getting into Databases Off Campus Using a ComCast Cable Connection for current solutions.
If you did not get into the database successfully, wait a few minutes and try again. If you still did not get in, contact the Library.
Note: The proxy server and databases will work better with Firefox and Internet Explorer 5.5 and above. If you have AOL, you need to have version 6 and above--but you are better off browsing the Web using a real Web browser and should use Internet Explorer or Firefox.
Remote authentication for our databases is
possible through EZProxy, an application proxy server.
