EbscoHost Off-Campus
To Get into EbscoHost:
New Way | Old Way
There are now two ways you can get into EbscoHost off campus! Listed below are the new directions to get into the database. This is terrific, because you no longer have to go to the reference desk to get usernames and passwords, but enter the username and password listed below. You only need to enter it once. Eventually, you will be able to get into ALL of our databases using the SAME username and password, including Lexis-Nexis Academic and Project MUSE!
| 1) Get into EbscoHost. You will receive a screen that will ask you for your username and password. |

2) Your username is your W ID number. If you do not know your W ID number, look it up on Class-Web, using your social security number as your user name and the password you have chosen or your birth date. |
|
|
3) Your password is as follows-- first two letters of first name, followed by first two letters of last name, followed by last two digits of your W ID number. When done, click on Login. Example: Jane Chabot has a W id number of W98765432. That means her username would be W98765432 and her password would be jach32 ja--Jane, ch--Chabot, 32--W98765432 NOTE: this password is NOT the same as Blackboard’s. You use only the last TWO digits of the W ID number, NOT FOUR. |

If you did not get into the database successfully and have ComCast Cable as your ISP, go to Getting into Databases Off Campus Using a ComCast Cable Connection for current solutions.
If you did not get into the database successfully, wait a few minutes and try again. If you still did not get in and know the old username and password, get into the old way to get into Ebsco Host, off campus or contact the Library if you do not have that information (phone number: (510)723-6764).
Note: The proxy server and databases will work better with Netscape 7 and above and Internet Explorer 5.5 and above. If you have AOL, you need to have version 6 and above--but you are better off browsing the Web using a real Web browser and should use Internet Explorer or Netscape.
Remote authentication for our databases is possible through EZProxy, an application proxy server.
