Make the Library Web Page Your Home
Whether for your classes or for
your own personal research, the Library recommends that you make the Library web
page your gateway to find quality information resources online. You can do
so by making it your Home on your browser or making it a Bookmark
or Favorite.

To Make the Library Your Home
on the Web
Home is the web page you designate to be your "starting point" page when you open up a web browser such as Internet Explorer and Netscape. You get to Home by clicking on the Home button in your browser
To make the Library page your home page in the Netscape or Mozilla Browser:
| 1. Go to the Edit pull down menu and select Preferences. |

| 2. Once in
Preferences, select Navigator from the choices in the left frame. 3. Under Home Page, type in the following URL (web address): http://www.chabotcollege.edu/Library/ 4. Click

To make the Library page your Home in the Internet Explorer browser:
| 1. Go to the Tools pull down menu and select Internet Options. |

| 2. Select General
(top left tab) 3. Under Home Page, type in the following URL (web address): http://www.chabotcollege.edu/Library/ 4. Click OK on the bottom left.

Once you have made the Library your home on the Web, simply click on the Home button of your browser:

Making the Library Page Be a
Bookmark/Favorite
If you already have a Home set on your browser that you feel you must need, the Library then recommends you make the Library page be one of your Bookmarks (known as Favorites in Internet Explorer and AOL). A Bookmark or Favorite is a "place marker" you set in your browser to direct you to a particular page you have found in the World Wide Web. When you create a bookmark/favorite, you are basically storing the web address into your browser's memory. You can then select from a pull down of "place markers" to the desired page you want to go.
To Bookmark the Library page in Netscape 4 and Above
| 1. Go to the Library web page:
http://www.chabotcollege.edu/Library/ 2. Select the Bookmarks button (listed toward the left below the main toolbar of browsing buttons). 3. Select from the pull down menu Bookmark this Page or Add Bookmark 4. Once you have made the selection, you will find a selection titled, "Chabot College Library Home Page" on your pull down menu of bookmarks. Select it and you will go directly to the Library page!

To make the Library page a Favorite in Internet Explorer or America Online
| 1. Go to the Library web page:
http://www.chabotcollege.edu/Library 2. Select the Favorites button from the browsing toolbar of buttons or from the pulldown menu titled Favorites. 3. Click on the selection, Add or Add favorite 4. From the pop-up box that comes up just click on OK. 5. Once you have made the selection, you will find a selection titled, "Chabot College Library Home Page" on your pull down menu of Favorites. Select it and you will go directly to the Library page! |

By either making the Library your Home,
Bookmark, or Favorite, you now have a better starting point when it
comes to research. You have access to our Library Catalog of books,
published articles that are available online, and links to quality web sites
selected by librarians who know the tools you need and use! Make the Library be the first stop
for research (rather than a general search engine) and you save yourself time to
find premium, quality resources!
