Printing Documents at the Lab You Originally Created At Home

 

BOTH Office 2007 and 2003 are now on our machines.  The Student Computer Lab is located on the mezzanine of the Library and is open to all currently registered Chabot/Las Positas College students.   It now contains over 50 computers available for word processing, web searching, web based email, and Microsoft Office Applications.  Please note these computers are NOT available for chats, instant messenging, usenet, MP3's, and games.  Downloading any software is also prohibited. Please treat the lab as a study area. There is always at least one lab assistant available to assist you.

Spring Hours:

Open--   Mondays through Thursdays   8:30 a.m. - 8 p.m.
              Fridays  8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.
              Thursday, February 14   4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.       

Closed-- Saturdays and Sundays
              Thursday, February 14   8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
              Friday, February 15 (President's Day Weekend)
              Monday, February 18 (President's Day)
              Week of March 24-28 (Spring Break)
              Monday, May 26 (Memorial Day)
     

Materials required for use of Lab:

*You no longer need a Chabot ID card .  You type in your W ID number once you sit at a computer.  If you do not know your W ID number, log in to Class-Web.  Once you are in, click on the link that says "What is my W ID"?  If you are at the Library, you are allowed to look up Class-Web from the computers in the reference room.  Once you have your W ID number, you can then go upstairs (as reference computers are mainly for Library Research purposes only)

* The lab is not responsible for any work that is lost.

The Lab DOES NOT supply floppy disks. However recycled floppy disks sometimes become available. Disks may be purchased at the Chabot College Bookstore.

LAB RULES:

Overall, the Student Computer Lab is for currently registered students to write papers and to prepare for assignments related to their courses.  Using the Lab for library research (such as finding articles from a database) is encouraged.  Therefore, the Student Computer Lab can also be seen as a STUDY AREA.  So please observe these rules.

  1. Internet chats, messengers, games, and usenet are prohibited.  Changing any setting on any machine is prohibited.
     
  2. Like the rest of the Library, food and drink are not allowed.
     
  3. Downloading any software is prohibited, whether it be from your disk or from the Web.
     
  4. Printing is ten cents per page.  For information, go to Pay-For-Print at the Library
     
  5. Students should show any disk they wish to use to the lab assistant.  NOTE: Damaged disks can cause problems including permanently losing information you have on the damaged disk, and damaging the floppy disk drive of a computer.  If you ever have problems ejecting a disk from a machine, DO NOT TUG.  See a lab assistant immediately.
     
  6. Any conversations in this study area should be kept to a minimum, INCLUDING CELL PHONE CONVERSATIONS  In general, please consider others, and step outside!

  7. No other ID other than a CURRENT Chabot/Las Positas College ID will be accepted
  8. If you are using the machines for NON-ACADEMIC purposes, you will be asked to leave when the Lab is busy and there are people waiting to use the computers.
  9. Inform the assistant on duty when you need to switch to another computer.
  10. Lab assisitants can not repair hardware/software issues.
