FINDING AN ARTICLE IN OUR COLLECTION

Welcome to Planet Oakland. New York Times, 8/29/2003, Vol. 152 Issue 52590, pA19, 0p; (AN 10820799)
Notes:  CHECK-OUT COPIES: Chabot, current 4 months. Las Positas, current 6 months' Sunday issues. Microfilm: Chabot has 1851-1906, 1912-1919, 1926 to now. Las Positas has 1973 on. OTHER DATABASES: Lexis-Nexis Academic Universe has June 1980 to now, full-text

PAPER COPIES If EbscoHost Notes state that Chabot has "check-out copies," that means paper copies are available for the years stated.  Go to the Periodicals Desk which is next to the elevator. Make sure that the dates we have in paper include the date indicated for the article.

MICROFILM COPIES: If Ebsco Host Notes state that Chabot has it on Microfilm, go to the green cabinets on the Mezzanine.  Microfilm readers are available on the wall.  For assistance in finding microfilm or using the readers, go to the Audio Visual Center desk on the Mezzanine.  Our microfilm readers contain a photocopier and the cost is ten cents per page.  Make sure the Notes field contains the year of the article you are seeking.

OTHER DATABASES: If EbscoHost notes state that full text is available in another database, go to link on the top right that says CHABOT COLLEGE, go to Magazine, Journal, and Newspaper Articles and more and select the database.  Enter the title of the article and combine it with the title of the journal to conduct your search.  Make sure the database contains the year of the article you are seeking.

OTHER LIBRARIES: The Notes fields in Ebsco Host will also let you know if there are copies in paper and microfilm at Las Positas and in paper at Cal State Hayward-- covering academic libraries that are available to you, locally.   Also, check to see if the Library at California State University, Hayward has the title by going to: http://aphid.csuchico.edu/lso/hayward/search.asp or check to see if UC Berkeley has copies by searching the UC Berkeley Library catalog: http://sunsite2.berkeley.edu:8000/    You need to go to the other Library itself to find the article.  And remember, to make sure the Library contains the year of the article you are seeking before you go.

Citing an Article
