Library Research Guide--Election 2000
Finding Articles
While we have created a reference page to many links available on the World Wide Web, often for your topic, you will want to find articles on your subject. Here is what we recommend.
1) Have a plan! Develop
a search strategy, first. Come up with one and then combine
search terms, effectively
2) Select a database

Searching for stories in Florida's newspapers is at your fingertips. As most online newspapers' full text stories are usually only available from the last few days to the last two weeks, this resource is very beneficial. It searches back years, sometimes as far back as 1989. Take notice that many newspapers charge a fee to view the full text of an article from its archives. If you search a newspaper's archives that says there is a fee to view a whole article, try to see if SIRS Knowledge Source has that article. SIRS Knowledge Source selects key articles from newspapers all over the country.
