Academic Search EliteThis multi-subject database contains 2,037 authoritative periodical titles in many disciplines and is an excellent resource for searching magazines and scholarly journals for topics.  Some titles go as far back as 1985 and most go back to 1995.

Project MUSEProject MUSE contains 258 authoritative scholarly titles in the Humanities and Social Sciences.  Some go back to 1993, and most go back in time to 2000.

GenderWatchContains many scholarly journals, magazines, and newsletters on titles related to gender (216 titles).  Excellent for women’s studies and all assignments related to sex roles, gender, and sexual identities.  Some titles go back to the 1970’s, covering the early days of the modern Feminist movement.

Lexis-Nexis AcademicThis gigantic database with more than 8,000 full text titles includes major newspapers, regional newspapers, news transcripts from television broadcasts and television news shows, and newspapers from all over the world.  Also contains law information, text of Supreme Court case decisions, law reviews, business information, and more.

Alt-PressWatchThe database from the newspapers that are not belonged by the “few corporations” that seem to own most titles these days.  Contains city and national newspapers that often cover the stories that the major newspapers seem to either ignore or cover little.  Also contains a few scholarly journals.  (Total—174 titles)

Ethnic NewsWatchEthnic, minority, and Native American presses from across the country, going back to 1990.  (270 periodical titles)

CountryWatchCurrent and detailed descriptions of countries from all over the world, including overviews of the politics, environmental conditions, social customs, and economics.  Also contains CountryWire, latest news stories that are happening in a particular country.

Gale Virtual Reference Library: Social Trends and Indicators USA--Provides detailed statistics on social issues paired with expert analyses of the statistics. Statistics are gathered from respected sources, including the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Bureau of the Census, Bureau of Economic Analysis, and the Social Security Administration; data is also gathered from the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, and stock exchanges.
