The Nursing Program is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing. An accelerated program has offered Licensed Vocational Nurses admission into the 2nd year of the major, All advanced standing applicants are admitted on a space available basis.
Upon satisfactory completion of the major, students are eligible for the Registered Nurse License Examination. The program prepares graduates who can contribute to the advancement of nursing science and influence changes in a variety of settings within the health care system. The graduate possesses a repertoire of knowledge, skills, and attributes that serve as the foundation for safe, competent practice and lifelong learning.

The California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) approved the Chabot College Nursing Program. The BRN has the authority to approve registered nursing and advanced practice nursing programs in California. The purpose of approval is to ensure the program's compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. Pre-licensure registered nursing programs in California must be approved by the BRN.
The Chabot Nursing Program was approved on September 18, 2014 by the California Board of Registered Nursing
LVNs who enter into the second year of the nursing program may opt for one of the three following: A.A. in Nursing, Non-Degree option, or 30-unit option. The 30 unit option is offered and accepted only in the State of California. Please see the Nursing Program Director regarding this option. Graduates of this program are eligible to take the National Council Licensing Examination for Registered Nursing (NCLEX-RN) in the state of California. . Fall 2015 application opens on 04/01/2015, closes 10/1/2015.
This program meets the requirements of Section 2736.6 of the Nurse Practice Act and Section 1429 of the Regulations.

In August, 2011 Chabot opened a state-of-the-art Simulation Lab on the Hayward campus. "Active Learning is the future of nursing education," said Chabot Nursing Program Director Connie Telles, DNP, RNC-OB. Using the latest teaching methods has been a catalyst for success in the college's nursing program. Currently, the Simulation Lab is populated with a busy family of four: Noelle the birthing manikin, Baby Hal, 5-year-old-Hal, and Simulation Man Essential (Sim Man). While nursing student perform learning scenarios, instructors in a control room observe from behind a two-way mirror, using computers to remotely manipulate the activity and vital signs of the manikins The exercises require role play and reflect the drama and crisis scenarios in any hospital, including labor and delivery.
