TEAS Version V - For Admission Fall 2012

The Chancellors Office has approved the application from the Assessment Technologies Institute for the TEAS V(5.0). Based on the recommendation of the California Community College Nursing Advisory Committee and an independent psychometrician, the cut score for TEAS V(5.0) has been set at 62% Adjusted Individual Score. Note that although this cut score is lower than what had been used in the past, the new test is more difficult and the cut score to be used in California is higher than the national cut score of 57.

Colleges using TEAS must begin using TEAS V(5.0) in January 2011.

All incoming students Fall 2012 will be required to take TEAS V(5.0).
For data collection and reporting, the assessment data reported next October will include only one-half year of scores covering the period January 2011 through June 2011.

Test of Essential Academic Skills Version V (5.0)

The TEAS was developed to measure basic essential skills in academic content area domains for Reading, Mathematics, Science, and English and Language Usage. These entry level skills were deemed important for nursing program applicants by a panel of nursing program curriculum experts. The TEAS is a 170-item, four-option, multiple-choice assessment. It is not required to take the test prior to applying for the Chabot College Nursing (RN) program.

Chabot requires your FIRST test score to count towards the 62% (Adjusted Individual) cut score*. Fall 2012: Test must be taken after 01/01/2010. TEAS results are good for 2 years.
Student who do not met or exceed the 62% Adjusted Individual score* will be required to take remediation classes prior to testing again or applying for the Chabot Nursing Program.

TEAS Version V (Testing only)

Spring 2012 - Test will be offered on June 26 at 9 AM and 4:00 PM for Fall 2012. Please email for reservation nurse@chabotcollege.edu. Include your name, contact phone number and student ID. (Apply Chabot College online - it's free) Space is limited to 50 students. It is a 3 hour test, registration required. Books and practice tests can be purchased directly from ATI Testing.

It is NOT required to take the test prior to applying for the Chabot Nursing Program for Fall 2012.
Top 120 applicants in sections 1-5 of the criterion worksheet will be notified by US mail on or before April 30, 2012 of testing date above. Admission to Fall 2012 TEAS must be taken on or before May 7th for generic students and June 30, 2012 for LVN-RN students.
Student who do not met the 'cut score' of 62% Adjusted Individual Score* will be REQUIRED to complete remediation classes prior to applying to the Chabot Nursing Program and ineligible for selection for class beginning in August 2012.

*Qualifying score maybe adjusted based on historical data for pass rates of nursing program students by the California Community College Nursing Advisory Committee (3CNAC) As of 1/1/2011 - TEAS Version V will be accepted with 62% Adjusted Individual Score.

Preparation Class
