Test of Essential Academic Skills

The TEAS® was developed to measure basic essential skills in academic content area domains for Reading, Mathematics, Science, and English and Language Usage. These entry level skills were deemed important for nursing program applicants by a panel of nursing program curriculum experts. The TEAS® is a 170-item, four-option, multiple-choice assessment. It is not required to take the test prior to applying for the Chabot College Nursing (RN) program. The test will be given to any selected applicant that has not already taken the test. Selected applicants and alternates will be notified by mail date, time and location of the test.

Chabot requires your FIRST test score to count towards the 67% (Adjusted Individual)cut score*. Students who have taken the test more than once will be required to provide a copy of their first test results. Test must be taken after 08/20/2007.
Students are not 'ranked' using their test score.
Student who do not met or exceed the 67% Adjusted Individual score* will be required to take remediation classes prior to testing again or applying for the Chabot Nursing Program.

TEAS® Class - N87 TEAS Preparation Class

We will be offering a preparation class in the Spring 2009. Watch is website for information.

The class is 1/2 unit course.
Class will meet 4 days, 2 hours for each day
The fourth day is the test with an online payment of $20 at time you are taking the test. The test will take 3 hours.

Books should be ordered directly from ATI Testing and shipped directly to the student.

Costs: 1/2 Unit +Health Fee = $23.00, Books: Study Manual and Online Practice Assessment $58 (ATI Product Code TEAS SG OL PKG). Testing Fee $20 to be paid online date of test.

*Qualifying score maybe adjusted based on historical data for pass rates of nursing program students. Current 67% Adjusted Individual Score established 06/25/2006 by the California Community College Nursing Advisory Committee (3CNAC)
