Nursing - LVN to RN

OPTION DESCRIPTIONS (Choose one option only).

OPTION ONE: AA DEGREE

In addition to the Nursing Program sequence, the following courses are required by the California Board of Registered Nursing and must be completed:

Chabot College degree requirements must also be met to earn the Associate in Arts Degree in Nursing. Please note which courses meet general education requirements.

OPTION TWO: 30 UNIT OPTION FOR LVNS WHO ENTER IN THE SECOND YEAR

This option prepares you to take the RN licensing exam after completion of specifically designated nursing courses. You will need to complete the necessary prerequisite courses, other admission requirements, and the nursing sequence courses . Other degree and general education requirements are not required under this option. A high school diploma or GED certificate is required.  Please note those students electing this option are ranked below other students for spaces available in the program.

This option is offered and accepted ONLY in California. Graduates of this program are eligible to take the national Council Licensing Examination for Registered Nursing (NCLEX - RN) ONLY in California. At the present time, employment options after graduation are limited to California.

OPTION THREE: NON-DEGREE

The California Board of Registered Nursing does not require that applicants for the licensing exam hold a degree or diploma. However, practice outside of California or advancement in education may be hampered without the degree. This option prepares an applicant to take the RN licensing examination without having to complete all AA degree general education requirements. In addition to the nursing program sequence, the following courses must be completed.
