New to Blackboard? How to get started with Blackboard.

Blackboard Upgrade!
Please note that the Blackboard server at https://clpccd.blackboard.com  is scheduled to undergo a minor upgrade in early June, after Spring grades are submitted and before Summer classes begin. The upgrade occurring is relatively minor (to a new "service pack" in the same version) - from 9.1 SP 7 to 9.1 SP 9, which includes an updated design and style as well as just a handful of new optional features and enhancements. Please see below for more details.

Server Downtime: 6/10, 8:30pm until 6/11, 3:30pm:
The server will be unavailable during this upgrade, beginning at 8:30pm on June 10th and ending at 3:30pm on June 11th (approximately 19 hours of downtime). During this time, Blackboard will be unavailable to everyone (including support staff).

Frequently Asked Questions about the upgrade:
Should I request Blackboard sites before OR after the upgrade?
You can request your summer and/or fall Blackboard sites via CLASS-Web at any time.

Should I use the Course Copy tool before or after the upgrade?
After you have requested your course sites and you have verified that they have been setup, you can use the Course Copy tool at any time to copy over your content from a previous site. Whether you use the Course Copy tool before or after the upgrade, all of your content and settings will be copied over (view steps on how to use the Course Copy tool). Just as before, if you copy over course settings, the settings from the source course site will override the default course menu and settings in the destination site.
Once the upgrade occurs, will I need to recreate the content in my Blackboard sites?
Assuming that you continue to use the Course Copy tool to copy content from one site to another, no, you will not need to recreate existing content. The upgrade is being applied to our existing server, so all of the course and student data is the same.

Blackboard 9.1 SP9 Resources

 - Updated design and style:
 - Themes:
 - Course-to-course navigation:
 - Automatic re-grading of edited exams:
 - Grade History and Activity Reports

How to Email Students from Announcements:

On the Create Announcement page, you will find the option to "Email Announcement: Send a copy of this announcement immediately" (under Web Announcement Options).

Email Announcement Text

Select this option to email a copy of your Announcement to your students. Please be aware that the email is sent out immediately and it does not adhere to any date restrictions set for the Announcement. So, if you are creating an Announcement in advance, you should wait to select this option until you are ready for students to read the text of the announcement. You can always go back into the Announcement settings (Edit) to select this option once the Announcement is available.

Have you tried your Fake Student Account?

Instructors are given a Fake Student account so that they can view their course sites from the student perspective. You may already see this Fake Student account listed amongst your student user names in Blackboard as it begins with "ZZ-last name".

If you haven't already accessed your Fake Student account, you can do so using your unique Fake Student log in information. If you are not sure of your Fake Student log in, or need the password reset, please visit /OnlineTeaching/blackboard to submit a Support Request.

Reminder of Online Learning Student Support resources and on-campus assistance:
