10/01/07:  The No. Ca Regional Tourney was held at Mission College this past weekend. Winners from this tournament qualify for the National Small Colleges Championships ITA tourney. This year, the National tournament is being held in Mobile, Alabama. Chabot College will be sending 3 athletes to the National Tourn.

Nick Jakosjin and Jason Huk are Ojai Doubles Champions. They defeat team from College of the Desert, 75,67,64. 1st time in Chabot Men's history, that a title was won at Ojai !

4/21/2007:  Men and Women Tennis entered the coast conference tournament Thursday and into the weekend. Outstanding performances by our Chabot Tennis teams. Tiffany Villanueva and Megan Kummer beat out Arroyo and Yamaoka from Monterey Peninsula College to be titled Coast Conference Double team Champion. Singles Championship match was postponed due to rain, but either Tiffany Villanueva or Megan Kummer both from Chabot will be crowned the singles Coast conference Champion.
Men's the singles championship consisted of two Chabot players. Yuki Asari and Nick Jakosjin battled each other, but in the end Yuki Asari beats out his teamate to be crowned the Singles Coast conference Champion. Nick Jakosjin and Jason Huk defeated Herry and walker of Cabrillo College to be crowned Coast conference doubles team Champion.

4/18/2007 :  Women's Tennis defeated Mission College on a forfeit giving the Chabot lady Gladiators an undefeated season as a team. Congratulation to the women's Tennis team.

4/17/2007:  Women's Tennis hosted Monterey Peninsula College in a 1st round team playoff beating them 5 matches to zero. ( Playoff rule: First team to 5 matches wins)

3/21/2007:  Women's Tennis visited CCSF beating them 9 matches to zero. Sheri Kakiuchi, Jackie Park, Emilie Murillo, and Tam Tran won their single matches in both sets 6-0. Megan Kummer won her sets 6-2, 6-0. Tiffany Villanueva won her match 6-1, 6-1. Doubles Villanueva and Kakiuchi team won 6-1, 6-2. Murillo and Park won 6-1, 6-1. Kummer and Tran won 6-0, 6-1.

3/16/2007:  Men's Tennis hosted Diablo Valley College, winning 8 matches out of 9 (no Stats provided).

3/13/07:  Men's Tennis hosted De Anza College in which Chabot swept the day winning 9 of 9 matches. Nick Jakosjin won his match in two sets 6-3 and 6-2. Yuki Asari won 6-3 and 6-1. Jarret Huk won in three sets 6-2, 2-6, and 6-4. Nima Magharei won in three sets 6-3, 5-7, 6-2. Carl Santa elena won in two sets 6-3 and 6-1. Bobby John won in three sets 6-3, 4-6, and 6-1. 10/3/06:  The pre-season Intercollegiate Tennis Asoc., Northern CA Region Tournament was held at American River this past weekend. Returning All-American Tiffany Villanueva and freshman Megan Kummer represented Chabot, winners of this region then go on to Florida for the National ITA Tourn. Megan Kummer was the singles finalist, and Megan and Tiffany teamed up in doubles and lost a tough 3 set match, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4, in the semi-finals. A very good early season result for the women's tennis team.


 

Intercollegiate Tennis Asoc. 2006 [ITA] Men's Coach of the Year Award, 1st time a coach has been awarded this award in back to back years [last year Women's ITA coach of the year], Also 1st coach to win this award for both men's and women's tennis programs. The Roadrunners, who have now won 12 team titles, swept Chabot College, 5-0 on Thursday at the Claremont Club in Claremont. College of the Desert finished the season with a 17-1 record, while the Gladiators went 14-2.

The match was ended before the final singles match was played, as the Roadrunners took the first five completed matches. It started with #4 singles player Shingo Minato (6-1, 6-2) and #5 player Patrick Oloba (6-1, 6-0) winning, and concluded when powerful #2 player Francis Yoshimoto (6-2, 6-3), along with Stefan Fedderson (6-2, 6-0) and Joao Toledo (6-2, 6-1) also posting wins.

The top three singles players and top two doubles teams for College of the Desert will compete in the individual championships, while singles player Nik Jakasjin and all three doubles teams will represent Chabot.
