Committee On Online Learning
The Committee on Online Learning at Chabot College is committed to facilitating quality online and hybrid education for our students and our fellow faculty. In the past 2009-10 academic year we have accomplished the following items:
1). Workshops:
Flex Day Workshop 10/6/09: "Information on the Benefits and Flexibility of Hybrid Online Learning for both face-to-face and partially online courses". This workshop included a demonstration of the Blogs and Journals features in Blackboard 9.
COOL Online/Hybrid Demo Workshop 10/29/09: This workshop was designed to demonstrate the basic components needed for an online or hybrid course. It offered instruction on how to implement a quick "set-up" for an online or hybrid course including the first instructional unit.
Online Evaluation Training Workshop: 2 sessions 4/13/10 and 4/15/10.
2). Created a new streamlined online/hybrid proposal form to be sure we could facilitate a better proposal experience for our fellow faculty.
3. Developed and provided set of clear Guidelines for "Regular Effective Contact Hours", to be sure that our fellow faculty would be able to understand the necessity of providing appropriate contact instruction in an online or hybrid course.
4. Began a BLOG for our fellow faculty to provide additional information that they could use quickly. Please go to our BLOG and check out our latest information on Authentic Assessments:

5. Reviewed and Facilitated a Total of 38 Online and Hybrid Proposals:
(To review an online or hybrid course members are assigned to a review team in which they read and comment upon 7-10 or more written proposals. Then, each review team sets up an in person demonstration for each new course proposer so that each new online or hybrid instructor can receive personalized feedback from their review team.)
