 Online Course Approval Process/Timeline

 Spring 2010 Courses

  1. ASAP:  Review your course idea with your subdivision and dean to gain support for offering the course.  Note that the decisions to schedule an online course and the instructor assignment are matters for the subdivision and dean, not the  Committee on Online Learning (COOL).

  1. ASAP:  Complete Introduction to Blackboard training (if you haven't already done so) and Initial Consultation for teaching online.   Request the online resources or an in-person appointment at http://www.chabotcollege.edu/cws/Blackboard/help/

  1. September 14, 2009:  Submit electronic version and hard copy of online course delivery proposal (with all required signatures) to the Committee On Online Learning Chair (Ramona Silver).  Please be sure that you submit the most current proposal form.  Once you've submitted your proposal, a review team from the COOL will be assigned.  This small team will help you through the rest of the process.  Note that the proposal form has been updated for 2009-10, so please use this new form.

  1. By October 12, 2009:  Feedback on your course proposal from COOL members will be available in the Blackboard BOLT course.  Review and reply to this feedback, and incorporate in your course as needed.

  1. By December 4, 2009:  Review your course shell plus 1-2 weeks of content with your COOL review team.  We also encourage you to share the course with your colleagues, but this isn't required.  Feedback will be provided both at your meeting and following the final committee vote.

  1. 2-3 weeks before the semester begins:  Complete your formative evaluation with our Instructional Designer.
