Math Assessment workshops are available to help students review the topics on the assessment test covering elementary algebra and intermediate algebra skills. The goal is to help you refresh what you learned, so you will not be misplaced simply because you were not reminded of some simple detail from lack of use. The workshop is a good way of assessing your understanding of the different topics outside a class setting.

ELEMENTARY ALGEBRA WORKSHOPS

Students who have completed Algebra 1 or Algebra A & B in high school...should attend the Math Assessment Workshops on 3/10/2/2008 or 3/31/2008 at Chabot from 4:30 - 6:30 pm in Bldg 1800, room 1832.

The topics covered in this workshop are solving linear equation and inequality in one variable, solving for a variable, simplifying exponents and polynomials, and factoring (at elementary algebra level). In addition, this workshop will also cover topics such as writing equation of a line; solving quadratic equations, simple rational equations, and linear systems; simplifying rational and radical expressions; and graphing linear, absolute value, quadratic, and radical equations.

INTERMEDIATE ALGEBRA WORKSHOPS

Student who have completed Algebra 2 in high school...should attend the Math Assessment Workshops on 3/17/2007 or 4/ 7/2007 at Chabot from 4:30 - 6:30 pm in Bldg. 1800, room 1832.

The topics covered in this session are factoring and expanding polynomials (at intermediate algebra level); solving linear, quadratic, polynomial, rational, absolute value, exponential, logarithmic, and radical equations; solving linear and absolute value inequalities in one variable; identifying function and its domain and range; function composition and inverse function; complex numbers; and exponential functions and logarithms.
