What's Your Chabot Story?
As a first generation mom student, I knew that High school was not enough. I wanted to set up an example for my kids and other students that just like me struggle throughout High school, either first generation, taking ESL classes, migration status. I decided to give it a try and it has been such an amazing journey.
How did Chabot influence your life and career?
Chabot has influence my life in so many good ways, it has reshape, redefine and reform my life. Chabot has giving me the opportunity to learn more about myself and prepared for my next Chapter at my own pace. The people I met at Chabot, my professors, my counselors, my family and friends impacted my decision to transfer to a 4 year university, I couldn't done it without them.
Why should anyone transfer?
I think everyone should transfer because it is a great opportunity to meet new people, and self growth, I never thought it would of be possible but I made it to UCB. and it is such an emotional moment because i know I will be able to help and inspired many students in my way out, but also I demonstrated that students like me, coming from a minority group, low income, immigrant, have an opportunity to stand out.
Shout Outs and/or Words of Wisdom?
Shout out to my husband and kids for their unconditional love and support. Shout out to my favorite English professor Simon A. and my dearest friend Sandra for always believed in me even when I doubted myself. To new and currently Chabot students remember that results happen over time, not overnight- work hard, stay consistent, and be patient.
