  1. Admission requirements and procedures.
  2. Appropriately sequencing your classes.
  3. Your transfer options.

Transfer Basics


Completing your general education (GE)  or major requirements at Chabot College is a great way to save time and money.

Many Chabot College courses are articulated with comparable courses at the University of California (UC), California State University (CSU), and some private institutions. Articulated courses are guaranteed to transfer for GE and/or major course requirements at participating college and universities. This means that you will be able to complete up to half of the requirements for a bachelors degree at Chabot College.


 

Transfer to CSU and UC


  1. Complete major requirements
    Find courses for major agreements and GE requirements at ASSIST.
  2. Complete GE requirements
    See Transfer Tools below.
  3. Complete 60 transferable units
  4. Check in with a counselor each semester to stay on track to meeting requirements and to learn to use the right tools. 

 

Transfer Tools for CSU

  1. Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) – General Education pattern accepted by both all CSU and most UC campuses.
  2. CSU General Education Breadth – General education pattern accepted by CSU campuses
  3. CSU Transfer Courses  – Listing of every Chabot College course that transfer to CSU. 
  4. ASSIST – The official repository of articulation for California’s public colleges and universities and provides the most accurate and up-to-date information about student transfer in California.
  5. Degree with a Guarantee –  Students who earn an AA-T or AS-T degree at Chabot College and meet the CSU minimum eligibility requirements are guaranteed admission to the CSU system.

  3. ASSIST – The official repository of articulation for California’s public colleges and universities and provides the most accurate and up-to-date information about student transfer in California.
  4. UC Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) offers community college transfer students an opportunity to secure a guaranteed seat at one of the six UC campuses: UC Davis, Irvine, Merced, Riverside, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz.

Transfer to private universities


  1. Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) – Provides a starting point for private school transfer. Course requirements vary by institution.
  2. Transfer Guarantee to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) offers California community college transfer students meeting eligibility requirements are guaranteed admission with junior standing to participating HBCUs.
  3. Contact the transfer institution of your choice as early as possible to review their transfer credit policy. Though many private and out-of-state universities award transfer credit for UC-transferable course work, it is important to determine how and which Chabot College courses will receive transfer credit.
