Grant Alert Archives

The Forecast of Funding Opportunities is by no means a complete list (although it is well-researched and pretty comprehensive). The intention behind it is to give faculty, staff and divisions enough lead time to plan and develop their projects and proposals. Many of these opportunities are annual so if you miss one this year, it is usually held again at approximately the same time the following year. If you come across any opportunities that you think should be added to this list, please email me at ywu-craig@chabotcollege.edu. Thank you for your interest!

FACULTY HUMANITIES WORKSHOPS
NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE HUMANITIES (NEH)

http://www.neh.gov/grants/guidelines/facworkshops.html

Deadline: April 19, 2004

These grants (formerly known as Humanities Focus Grants) support faculty development workshops in humanities disciplines.  Workshops should extend and deepen knowledge of the humanities by fostering collaborative study of significant topics, texts, and issues; provide faculty with the opportunity to engage in rigorous intellectual inquiry; involve scholars from outside the institution; use creative formats and programs to engage faculty; and advance the study and teaching of the humanities at the participating institution.  Funds may be used to pay for guest scholars and visiting consultants, books and other materials, logistical support, and appropriate release time for project staff.  Awards to single colleges provide up to $30,000; two or more collaborating colleges can receive up to $75,000.  NEH encourages potential applicants to consult with a program officer prior to grant submission.

TEACHER PROFESSIONAL CONTINUUM (TPC)
NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION

http://www.ehr.nsf.gov/due/programs/tpc/

Deadline: May 25, 2004  (Preliminary Proposals); September 10, 2004  (Full Proposals)

The Teacher Professional Continuum program addresses critical issues and needs regarding the recruitment, preparation, enhancement, and retention of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) teachers for grades K-12.  Its goals are to improve the quality and coherence of teacher learning experiences across the continuum (including pre-service teachers).  Funds support research studies, resources for professional development, and conferences and symposia.  The program anticipates funding 25-35 awards ranging from $100,000 per year to $500,000 per year over 1-5 year grant periods depending on the grant category.  It is worth noting that the NSF did not receive as many applications as expected in the last TPC competition (only received 15 applications with funding available for 25 grants).  If this trend continues, the level of competition for strong TPC proposals may be low.
