About the International Student Program
We appreciate your interest in Chabot College and hope that you will apply for admission. Chabot College is authorized by the Department of Homeland Security's United States Customs and Immigration Services (DHS USCIS) to accept foreign students. The Fall Semester in August is the recommended entrance date for the academic year. The deadline for submitting your application for admission is
May 1st. If you choose to enter for the Spring Semester in January, submit your application by November
1. M-1 visa students may be mandated to begin with the Fall Semester due to course sequencing.
Chabot College is proud of its diverse student body and our enrollment of over 14,000 students. Our international students represent more than 25 countries from all continents. Our academic curriculum includes over 175 majors of study.

Chabot College is among the most important institutions of higher learning in the San Francisco Bay Area. It has a student body of approximately 14,000 students, including over 110 international students from all over the world. The College is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Credits earned at the College may be transferred to any college in the United States and most foreign countries. The instructional staff is one of the finest in the country.
Chabot College is centrally located in the beautiful San Francisco Bay area. The college is near many of the finest four-year universities and colleges in the U.S. It is within easy driving distance of the cities of Berkeley, San Jose and San Francisco. Public transit is available which allows access to neighboring cities.
Chabot College has a selective, limited and competitive admissions policy for citizens of foreign countries wishing to attend with the student visa. Only applicants who present evidence of academic promise and ability to read, speak and understand English at the American college level are accepted.
The curriculum offers one to two-year technical/vocational programs leading to a certificate or associate degree as well as two-year lower division undergraduate programs for those students wishing to transfer to a four-year college or university. Chabot College has transfer
guarantees with the University of California and California State University systems. The following is a partial listing of programs offered by this college:

Full-Time Study Per DHS USCIS
Students holding F-1 or M-1 visas are required to pursue a full program of studies from mid-August to late May. Chabot College is on the semester system and students must complete a minimum of 12 units each regular academic semester. Units are monitored each term by immigration for compliance. Students accepted for a certificated program (one year or less) may have to enter with the M-1 visa and may be advised they can only start in the Fall. M-1 visa students may not change to a degree program without first returning to their home country, obtaining the F-1 visa, then re-entering the U.S.
Student Government & Clubs
Extracurricular activities are an important aspect of the educational experience. The College has an active student government that affords each student the opportunity to relate to other students who have common interests. The International Club of Chabot College I3C hosts an annual International Night and are always looking for talented individuals to represent their country through song or dance.
Intercollegiate Athletics/Intramural Sports
The College has outstanding athletic teams and has captured several state and local championships in soccer, wrestling, football, basketball, baseball, tennis, track and swimming.
