Chabot graduates give back to the program. Kathi LaGrange, Class 1971, and Nancy Cuddy Pennell, Class 1976, were friends for many years including a special time when they worked together as Critical Care nurses at St. Rose Hospital. Kathi LaGrange was a unique, innovative woman who believed in mentoring nurses and advancing healthcare professionals. It was in honor of Kathi that Nancy set up this scholarship fund in 1998. It is with this vision that Nancy Pennell continues to support the Chabot College Nursing Program.
LaGrange-Cuddy Nursing Scholarship is offered to nursing students who share passion and enthusiasm displayed by both Kathi and Nancy throughout their careers in the medical field. Ms. LaGrange and Ms. Pennell felt that financial assistance for students entering their second year could be critical to the successful completion of the nursing program. Despite her failing health, Kathi was so pleased to be able to participate in establishing all of the guidelines for this annual gift.
