Chabot College is offering a ten week RN Refresher training program for Registered Nurses, June 9 through August 14 2008. The RN Refresher Program is working closely with JVS to also offer this class to nurses who were trained abroad and are facing barriers to employment in the U.S. It is funded by the Gold Foundation, and by the Bay Area Workforce Funding Collaborative. East Bay funders and stakeholders recognize that overseas-trained nurses face many barriers to finding employment upon arrival to the U.S. Therefore, priority will be given to foreign-trained nurses who live in the East Bay. However, U.S. re-entry nurses will also be considered if there are spots available. A separate application process is required of foreign trained nurses.
Theory and clinical practice focusing on preparation for entry-level staff nurse.
Review of scope of registered nursing practice, health assessment, recognition and management of urgent, and emergency situations and other topics.

186 Clinical hours (including skill lab hours)
Day shift clinical rotations at Eden Hospital (Castro Valley) and St. Rose Hospital (Hayward)
Certification for 30 continuing education units (CEUs) provided upon completion of class;
