Online LearningHow to Begin an Online CourseTo all of you who are considering taking an online course at Chabot College - welcome! Maybe you have life commitments that prevent you from coming to campus for traditional live action classes. Maybe you just prefer and excel at the online method of learning, or want to try something new! Whatever your reasons are, online courses offer you the flexibility to pursue your education without having to put your life on hold. Here's how you get started: Your first step is to check the course schedule to find out about any required on-campus meetings, dates, and special notes for the course. On the first day of your class (you will most likely be unable to access your course before then), log in to Blackboard to begin your class. Be sure to attend any required meetings on campus as well. Additional options for getting started: Think you might be interested in Online Learning? To help prepare Chabot students for their first online class, we now offer three new methods of support. If you are interested in a complete course that provides an Introduction to Online Learning for new, current, and future online students, consider GNST 4910: Introduction to Online Learning. For a one-hour, face-to-face orientation where a Blackboard specialist helps you login and an instructor takes you through a sample course, consider attending one of our On-Campus Online Learning Orientations. If you are unable to attend a campus orientation, we now offer a third option in an online version of these orientations. These resources are designed to provide you with all the information you need to make sure you start your new class off the right way! Even if you are still only considering taking an online course, we welcome you to come see what it's all about! Take advantage of all the online resources Chabot College has to offer! |
