How to Register and/or Begin an Online or Hybrid Course
To all of you who are considering taking an online course at Chabot
College--welcome!
Here's how you get started:
- Your first step is to
check the course schedule in CLASS-Web to find out any required on-campus meetings, dates,
and special notes for the course.
- Also check the college catalog for the
course description, prerequisites, CSU/UC transferability, and to see if the course meets AA/AS degree requirements.
- Registering for an online or hybrid course is the same process as for
traditional courses. You can either
register online via CLASS-Web
or in-person at Admissions
and Records in building 700. (Be sure to call or to visit their webpage first
to confirm current opening days and times.)
- You need daily access to a computer with an Internet connection to take an online or hybrid course.
If you have not taken an online course before, be sure to
check the list of computer requirements and software needs
before registering.
- On the
first day of your course, log in to Blackboard to begin. Please note that most instructors do not make their course Blackboard sites available to students until the class start date.
That means that most likely you will not be able to login to your course
Blackboard site prior to that.
- Be sure to attend any required meetings on campus as well.
An instructor may drop students who miss the first meeting
of a course. The first meeting of online or hybrid courses is the first day of
the class as specified in the class schedule listing and may be an on-campus
meeting.
- Instructors also may drop students who do not log into
a Blackboard course site and/or
complete assigned activities by the third day of classes.
