2010-11 Season:  Overall (20-9) (8-4) 2nd in CCN

3/2/11 Chabot traveled to Concord to face DVC in the State's Sweet 16 and struggled to a 50-64 defeat.  The game started off even as both teams were clamping down on defense and getting stops.  However, Chabot's shots began to not fall, and whistles were not going in their favor either as DVC made a huge run just before half to pull away for a 39-23 score going into halftime.  Chabot made a few adjustments to begin the 2nd half, and the Gladiators made a run at DVC to pull within 8 with 11 minutes to go.  However, DVC would not give in as Chabot again went cold from the field and eventually finished the game with a score of 64-50.  Chabot played without 7'0" force Kyle Luckett (rolled ankle).  Chabot finished the season with 20 wins and a 2nd place finish in the state's toughest conference.  Congratulations on a great season Gladiators!

2/25/11 Chabot hosted Cabrillo on Friday night in the 2nd round of the state playoffs in front of multiple four year scouts (San Jose State, Notre Dame, Louisiana Tech, Quinnipiac).  Chabot came out of the gate on fire as Josh De La Torre (18 points) scorched the net with 6 first half threes on way to a 81-63 victory and the right to move on to the California Community College Sweet 16.  Chabot controlled the game from the tip and never looked back.  Jacob Noisat dominated the paint (18 points, 12 rebounds), and Jourdan DeMuynck played a great all around game finishing with 12 points.  Tobias Royal displayed his vision with a handful of beautiful assists and Randy Newell was superb at the point guard for Chabot as he defended and broke down Cabrillo's defense all night! Congrats to the Gladiators as their next game will be played Wednesday at Diablo Valley College @ 7pm.

1/28/11 Chabot faced off against Coast North rival Las Positas for the 4th time this season and came away with a 66-61 victory.

1/26/11 Chabot crossed the bay tonight to defeat the state's #5 ranked Canada College 77-61  in Redwood City.  Canada was on a roll going into the game and had a remarkable 15-2 record before tip-off.  The game started a little rocky as Chabot was called for fouls inside early, and Canada found their comfort zone behind the 3 point arc.  Going into half Chabot was down 4, 31-35.  As the second half started, Chabot jumped right out of the gates and totally took control of the game to eventually roll to a 20 point lead  at 70-50 behind pressure defense and hot shooting of their own.  The Gladiators finally began making the extra pass and finding the open men in rout to a 77-61 over Canada. The Chabot victory puts the Gladiators into 2nd place in the states toughest conference and sets up a showdown with rival Las Positas College on Friday at 7pm in Hayward!

1/21/11 Chabot came into tonight's game still worked up and angry about their previous game to CCSF.  Chabot made sure they were going to dominate this game in the paint and take advantage of their overwhelming size differential.  Chabot had a spirited first half that was capped by a Josh De La Torre fade away three pointer at the buzzer to go into half up 40-29.  The second half began just as the first half ended, with Chabot dominating the glass and pulling away for the easy victory, 82-55.  Chabot was led in scoring by Jourdan DeMuynck (17 points).  Kyle Luckett dominated the paint and ended with yet another triple double (points, rebounds, blocks).  Chabot's next game is for 2nd place in the states toughest conference as the Gladiators face off against Canada College in Redwood City on Wednesday at 7pm.

1/19/11 The states #7 ranked Chabot faced off against the states top ranked team CCSF tonight and it was an absolute war!  On the first possession of the game bodies were hitting the ground and jerseys were being grabbed.  CCSF pulled ahead early before Chabot made a run capped by a Jacob Noisat two handed fast break slam that drew an ear piercing applause from the Chabot faithful.  Chabot went into the half down 34-39.  The second half started with CCSF extending on the lead before Chabot made another run at it.  With over 12 minutes to go in the game Chabot's 7'0" center Kyle Luckett and 6'8" power forward Jacob Noisat both fouled out.  In all 4 players fouled out of the game and there were 3 technical fouls called by the officials.  Chabot was led in scoring by Jourdan DeMuynck (20 points, 10 rebounds) and Randy Newell (12 points).  Jacob Noisat pulled down 11 rebounds, and Colin Chadwick snatched 8 boards.  Final score Chabot 63, CCSF 78.

1/12/11 Chabot pulled away from Foothill College for a tough win in Hayward 69-54.  Chabot went to a smaller lineup than usual and defended Foothills spread offense and penetrated the Owls defense all night.  Chabot is now 2-1 in the states toughest conference going into next weeks showdown with CCSF in Hayward.

1/7/11  Chabot had a rough night from the field and could never quite get the touch as the Gladiators shot a horrid 20-61 from the field, and 2-20 from the three.  Ohlone came away with the 72-55 win as the Gladiators had their worst performance of the season.  Jourdan DeMuynck led the way with 18 points.

1/5/11 Chabot's Coast Conference North Division season got off to a great start Wednesday as the Gladiators won on the road at Las Positas 83-73.  For a while LPC (12-5, 0-1, #4 in Northern California, #9 in the state) appeared to be on its way to a second victory over the Gladiators (12-4, #5 NorCal, #11 state) in a week. Shooting lights-out in the first half, Las Positas built a 46-34 halftime lead.  However, Chabot opened the second half with 19-6 run to take the lead at 53-52. After a LPC free throw, the Gladiators ran off 15 consecutive points to build their advantage to 68-53 with 8:40 left.  LPC managed to close within four at 76-72 with 2:14 remaining after consecutive baskets. At that point,  the Hawks managed only a free throw the rest of the game as Chabot pulled away.  Jourdan DeMuynck led the way with 23 points and Kyle Luckett dropped in 20 for Chabot.  Chabot's next game is Saturday against Ohlone at 3 p.m. in Fremont.

12/30/10 Chabot (11-4) faced off against Las Positas for the second time outside of conference this year.  Chabot came out cold and couldn't find a rhythm offensively to take a 58-61 defeat to their conference rival from Livermore.  Chabot had the lead most of the game until the last 4 minutes when Las Positas took the lead and didn't let go and finished the game strong for the Chabot Classic championship.  For Chabot Kyle Luckett led the way with 20 points, 12 rebounds and Jacob Noisat 10 points and 8 rebounds.   All Tourney for Chabot went to Jacob Noisat and Randy Newell.

12/29/10 Chabot (11-3) faced a tough College of the Redwoods in the semis of the Chabot Classic Wednesday night.  (COR won the Golden Valley Conference last year). Chabot once again turned up the defensive effort and held Redwoods to 20 first half points.  Chabot gained an 18 point second half lead before COR made a last run at it before Chabot held on to win 69-57.  Chabot was led by Jourdan DeMuynck (17 points, 6 steals).  Chabot faces Las Positas in the Championship tomorrow in a rematch of the Las Positas Tipoff Classic championship game in which Chabot won.

12/28/10 Chabot (10-3) held on against a scrappy Napa Valley College to win 76-61 in the opening game of the Chabot Classic.  Napa came out hot and was hitting long range 3's all over the floor.  Chabot made a few half time adjustments and turned up the defensive pressure to force steals and fast break lay ups to pull away for the win.  Kyle Luckett led Chabot (17 points, 9 rebounds) Joshua De La Torre (17 points, 6 steals) and Jourdan DeMuynck (10 points).

12/17/10 Chabot (9-3) came out angry and ready to prove to everyone the results at the Modesto JC tourney was a fluke! Chabot opened the game with 9 straight points, all of which came from Kyle Luckett.  The Gladiators dominated the game from the start and went into the half with a 56-28 lead.  All gladiators got plenty of minutes tonight and the large crowd enjoyed what they saw as Chabot won 93-68.   Leading the way for Chabot was Kyle Luckett (21 points, 12 rebounds, 8 blocks), Joshua De La Torre(16 points), Howie Manzo and Jourdan DeMuynck (11 points), and Colin Chadwick with a breakout game with (10 point, 9 rebounds).  In attendance was the Assistant Coach for the Chicago Bulls to scout 7'0" center Kyle Luckett.

The next day Thursday 12/9/2010, Chabot men Basketball traveled back to Modesto JC to face Cosumnes River College in the Consolation bracket. Chabot had already faced Cosumnes River last week and beat them out of their own Championship game. This time around Chabot fell short after blowing a 20 point second half lead and losing 73-75 to end their tournament short. No stats Provided.

12/8/2010:  The men traveled to Modesto JC to face off against State defending champion Saddleback College. The game was a grinder as Saddleback took the early lead, but Chabot fought back to take the lead back and never looked back. Both teams were playing great basketball. As the end of the game approach within seconds, Chabot found themselves down by two and were fouled with about 4 seconds left in the game. The Gladiators would tie the game and force it into overtime. In overtime Chabot and Saddleback were back and forth, but Chabot managed to go ahead by three. It seamed that Chabot was going to take a win from Saddleback, but a buzzer beater three point shot was made to force another overtime. Once again, both teams battle back and forth, but in the end Saddleback snuck out with the win as Chabot missed a three pointer to win the game. The final Score was 84-85. No Stats Provided.

12/5/10 Chabot (8-1) is now 2 for 2 on the season.... Thats two tournaments, and two CHAMPIONSHIPS! The Chabot Gladiators faced off against tournament host Cosumnes River College on Sunday.  It turned out to be another high scoring, action packed game as Chabot won 84-75 versus the defending Big 8 conference champions.  Chabot used their superior size advantage to dominate the paint again with Kyle Luckett piling his stats up to a TRIPLE DOUBLE!! Kyle ended the game with 19 points, 14 rebounds and 10 blocks.  Other Gladiators in double figures were Randy Newell (12 points, 5 assists, 5 steals), Josh DeLaTorre (11 points), Jourdan DeMuynck (10 points), and Jacob Noisat (10 points and 7 rebounds).

MVP- Kyle Luckett ------- All-Tournament- Tobias Royal

Chabot next game is in the Modesto JC tournament on starting Wednesday versus defending state champion Saddleback College at Noon.

12/4/10 Chabot (7-1) faced off against Modest JC in the semifinals of the Cosumnes River College tournament Saturday night.  The Gladiators once again put on a show with its high power offense on their way to a 108-95 victory.  Chabot dominated the glass and finished the game with more offensive rebounds than Modesto's total rebound count.  Chabot finished with an astonishing 55 total rebounds to Modesto's 26! Once again the big men dominated for Chabot as Kyle Luckett nearly pulled off a triple double with 24 points, 16 rebounds and 9 blocks. Freshman Tobias Royal had his best outing as a Gladiator with 22 points, and 5 rebounds.  Jourdan DeMuynck finished with 18 points, and 8 rebounds. And Josh De La Torre had 13 points, and Jacob Noisat scored all 10 of his points in the 2nd half.  Chabot plays tomorrow in the Chamionship game at 3pm vs. host Cosumnes River College.

12/3/10 Chabot (6-1) opened up the Cosumnes River College tournament with a high scoring and very fast paced victory over Feather River College 94-84.  Chabot stormed out of the gates and opened up a 14 point lead, only to have Feather River get on a run of their own to bring the score to 49-46, Chabot at the half.  Chabot came out and again regained control and held on for the win in a game where athleticism was on display by both teams.  Chabot finished with  a total of 9 dunks on the night, and once again dominated the paint.  Great performances tonight for the Gladiators were Jacob Noisat (19 points, 4 dunks), Kyle Luckett (14 points, 4 dunks), Tobias Royal (14 points), Joshua De La Torre (11 points) and both Kurtis Ong and Chammar Grissom had great games with 8 points each! Chabot plays Modesto Jr. College tomorrow at 7pm in the tourney semis.

11/23/10 Chabot (5-1) continues to play well on the road with a 70-57 victory.  Chabot came out of the gates slow and was down  by 10 points before storming back and controlling the paint for the hard earned victory.  Chabot's biggest lead was 20 points with under three minutes to play before the final margin was decided.  Chabot dominated the boards and the paint as Jacob Noisat led the team with 21 points, followed by Jourdan DeMuynck's 19, and Kyle Luckett's 11 points.  All three players were in double digit rebounding as well for the game. Chabot goes into Thanksgiving with some momentum before a challenging 8 team  tournament at Cosumnes River College in  Sacramento, CA  on  Dec. 3rd thru 5th. Chabot opens the tournament versus an athletic Feather River College at 8PM on Dec. 3rd.

11/18/10 Chabot (4-1) came out sluggish and was never able to get into a flow on offense as the Gladiators shot 23-57 from the field in their home opener on  their way to a 73-71  defeat.  Chabot did show their fight as they came storming back with several 3's in the final few moments.  But a few questionable calls didn't go  the Gladiators way in the final moments and the 1 point Gladiator lead was erased as Monterey Peninsula  was 6-6 from the free throw line to close out the game.  Josh De La Torre was 5 of 6 from the 3 and finished with  20 points  for the Gladiators.  Randy Newell finished with 13, and Kyle Luckett had another solid game with 11 points and 8 rebounds.  Monterey Peninsula came in ranked as  top  ten team in the state and has now won 4 straight games.  Chabots next game is  Nov. 23rd at West Valley College in Saratoga, CA.

11/12/10  Chabot (4-0) traveled to Aptos for a Veteran's Day game at Cabrillo College (3-1).  Cabrillo was ranked #6 in Nor Cal and was coming off winning the championship of the Jon Wallace Memorial tournament at Ohlone College last weekend.  Chabot had their hands full with the Cabrillo upstempo style of the play and their state leading 3 point shooting! Cabrillo was averaging an astonishing 16 3's made a game!  The Gladiators came out focused and determined to get the victory as Cabrillo was held to a season low 11 3 pointers made.  Chabot held a 12 point lead with under 2 minutes to play when Cabrillo forced a few Chabot turnovers and made it very interesting in the end.  The game got to within 3 points with 20 seconds to go before Chabot sealed the deal with a Kyle Luckett free throw to ice the game.  Chabot once again had balanced scoring and was led by Jourdan Demuynck (16), Jacob Noisat (12), Kyle Luckett (11) and Josh De La Torre (10).  Next up for the Gladiators is their home opener vs. Monterey Peninsula on Thursday Nov. 18th at 5PM!

11/7/10 Chabot (3-0) faced off against rival Las Positas (2-1) Sunday evening in the championship game of the Las Positas tournament, and came out ahead 74-66.  Las Positas had difficulty adjusting to the Chabot defense as Chabot went into the half up 8.  Las Positas came out to take a lead in the first 5 minutes of the 2nd half before Chabot calmed down and got their rhythm back to retake the lead and secure the hard fought victory. Chabot was a stellar 26-29 from the charity stripe in the win. Chabot was lead in scoring by Randy Newell (17), Jacob Noisat (13), Jourdan DeMuynck (11), Kurtis Ong (10), Howie Manzo (8) and Josh De La Torre (6)Congratulations to tournament MVP Randy Newell, and All-Tournament performers Jacob Noisat and Howie Manzo.  Howie Manzo finished the weekend with 43 points in the 3 games.

11/6/10 Chabot (2-0) men fought off a very tough, talented and athletic Mendocino College (1-1) 91-80 on Saturday night in the semifinals of the Las Positas season opening tournament.  Chabot led by a few baskets at half and held off a furious rally by Mendocino to finally pull away and secure the game in the last 5 minutes of action.  Howie Manzo and Jourdan DeMuynck had great games with 22 points a piece.  Fellow freshman Tobias Royal and Josh De La Torre were also in double figures for the Gladiators.  Jacob Noisat had a good defensive game and pulled down a handful of rebounds inside.  Randy Newell once again did a great job handling the ball and applying non-stop ball pressure on the opposing guards.  Chammar Grissom had another great defensive game and contributed in many ways to the win.  The Gladiators will take on Rival and tournament host Las Positas College tomorrow at 5pm @ Las Positas College.

11/5/10 The Chabot Gladiators (1-0) opened the season today vs. Columbia College (0-1) at the Las Positas College tourney in Livermore.  The Gladiators came out and showed their superiority  in the paint with 6 dunks and dominated the game from start to finish. Leading scorers were Jacob Noisat (15), Howie Manzo (13), Tobias Royal (12), Kyle Luckett (10), Josh DeLaTorre (9) Randy Newell (8) and Jourdan DeMuynck with (5).  Chammarr Grissom came off the bench to play great defense and Colin Chadwick made his presence felt in the paint with his physical play, solid defense, and rebounding.  Jason Silsdorf played a great all-around game with multiple rebounds, blocks, and great passing. Jason also had the highlight of the game with his two handed tip dunk! Kurtis Ong did a great job handling the ball and showing leadership on and off the floor.  Chabot plays a very talented Mendocino College tomorrow at 7pm @ Las Positas College for the right to play in the Championship Game Sunday.

3/8/10:  The #7 seeded Gladiators travel to #2 seeded San Francisco. The Gladiators had a cold shooting night and could never get untracked. However, the Gladiators did finish the season with a solid 19-9 record including giving conference champion Ohlone its only conference loss.

All in all, with the women going to state and the men reaching the regional final, it's been a good year for Gladiator hoops.
