Working with Links

Follow these simple step-by-step instructions for working with links using MS Frontpage.

1. Open File

In MS Frontpage 2003, open the file you'd like to edit. This example uses the Contact Us page (contactus.asp) file in the website at http://www.chabotcollege.edu/web as if we were going to link my name, photo and email address.

2. Link Text
To link text, highlight the text you want to link (in this case, my name - Abdullah Yahya), right click and click "Hyperlink".

Then, select the page you want to link to or type in the url of the page you want to link to. In this example, I'm linking my name to Google's website (http://www.google.com). If you are linking to a site outside of Chabot College, make sure you include the "http://" prefix. Then click OK.

3. Link Image
To link an image, click on the image you want to link (in this case, my picture), right click and click "Hyperlink".

Then, select the page you want to link to or type in the url of the page you want to link to. In this example, I'm linking my name to Google's website (http://www.google.com). If you are linking to a site outside of Chabot College, make sure you include the "http://" prefix. Then click OK.

4. Link Email Address
To link an email address, highlight the email address, right click and click on "Hyperlink".

Then, type in the email address in the "address" field. The "mailto:" prefix will automatically be added by MS Frontpage. Then click OK.

8. Save Your Changes / Upload to The Web
Click File > Save to save your changes.

If you're editing your files directly on web, your changes are instantly shown online.

If you're editing your files locally, you'll need to upload your files to the web for the public to see the changes.

To learn more about putting your files on the web, see our tutorials.
