General Guidelines

  1. Please plan ahead regarding your use of the Hub facilities, taking into account that computers needed for scheduled workshops will not be available during the workshops.
  2. Please sign in and out. The binder with the sign-in sheets is prominently displayed as you walk in the door. We base upgrades, workshops, and future purchases on how the present equipment and software is being used.
  3. Please use the resource in the Hub for Chabot-related projects only. We do not have the resources to support personal activities such as job searches, book writing, garage sale flyers, etc. The Workforce Development Center has personnel and services to support job search activities.
  4. Please save information you need from a Web site on your floppy disk in text format. You can do this by opening the file in a word processing program and printing only the information you need. (This conserves paper and toner.)
  5. Print only one copy of your finished work. Use copy machines to make duplicate copies.
  6. Bring your own disks to save your work. Work that is saved on the computer will be deleted. If you work with large files that cannot fit on a floppy disk, consider purchasing Zip cartridges that fit in the Zip drives attached to the computers in the Hub. They are available at the College Bookstore and hold 100 MB of data. You can also save data to your U drive.
  7. Please don't install any software on the hard disks. This is a violation of copyright laws. Any applications residing on computers that are not properly licensed will be removed.
  8. Please show courtesy in accommodating the needs of other users. Those who need to use the scanners have priority in the use of the computers connected to the scanners. If the program you want to use is available on another computer, using that computer will avoid your having to be interrupted.
  9. When finished using a computer, quit the program(s) you are working on but do not shut down the computer.
