Commencement 2020 Virtual Ceremony


Chabot College is honoring students completing graduation requirements as of Fall 2019, Spring 2020 and Summer 2020 semesters for this year's virtual 58th Annual Commencement Ceremony which will be shown online on
Saturday, May 23rd, 9am

 

Follow these steps and complete them by the due dates

Upload your picture and quote by Wednesday May 13, 8:59pm pacific time

For students who petitioned to graduate by April 17, your next steps are:

Photo Attire

  • For graduates who ordered Cap and Gown regalia:
    Many are just receiving your orders this week, so please upload your photo with you in your regalia by the due date.
  • For graduates who did not order their Cap and Gown regalia
    We are allowing an alternative photo to be uploaded by the due date as long as the photo is appropriate for the occasion. All photos will be reviewed by the college prior to posting. The college reserves the right to not include any photos that are not appropriate for the occasion such as any hand gestures, attire or other potentially offensive images. ​We ask that all graduates use good judgement in this regard with the widest audience perspective in mind.

Steps

  1. Have your Zonemail (student email) login information ready. If you're new to Zonemail, see how to access it.
  2. When you're ready, use your Zonemail logon to upload your picture and info at the Graduation Portal.

Program

 

On Saturday, May 23rd, the virtual Commencement Ceremony will include:

  • Congratulatory messages by the Chancellor, Chabot College President and Senate Leadership
  • Graduating student slideshow with Name, Picture and Certificate/Degree

Special assistance: How can you request accommodations?

Graduates or their guests requiring special assistance, such as an interpreter for the deaf or mobility assistance, contact:

  1. Nathaniel Rice at nrice@chabotcollege.edu to find out more or to set up accommodations.
  2. Alternatively, you may call and leave your contact information and special need request with the Disabled Student’s Programs and Services front desk at 510-723-6725.

 

Diploma/Certificates: When will you receive them?

  • No diplomas or certificates will be distributed at the ceremony.
  • For spring candidates, you will receive notification via postal mail when to pick up your diploma. Mailing information is sent with the notification.

 

Summer graduates, can you participate?

If you anticipate completion of your graduation requirements by the end of Summer 2020, follow the above steps to be included in this year’s Commencement.

 

Additional viewing options: Can you view the ceremony online or on TV?

The Commencement Ceremony will be:

  1. Shown on this webpage;
  2. Shown simultaneously on Comcast 27 (in the Hayward, San Leandro, Union City, and San Lorenzo areas) and on Channel 99 for AT&T U-Verse.

After the premiere showing on May 23, 9am, the virtual Commencement Ceremony video will be availabe on this page, for viewing by anyone and at anytime.
