Online Teaching: Getting Started

Online TeachingOnline and Hybrid Learning offers a way to meet the changing needs of the students in the community by providing flexible learning options and access to education. We hope that these resources will provide a foundation as you explore the possibilities of online teaching.

Getting Started

Where should I begin - Learn Canvas or begin the Online/Hybrid Course Delivery Proposal process? The answer depends on deadlines. Ideally, prior to attempting to teach online, you familiarize yourself with Canvas, gradually incorporating various uses of Canvas into your on-campus courses for a few semesters prior to teaching in online or hybrid delivery.

The Online Course Approval Process

All faculty planning to teach any online or hybrid course at Chabot College must submit a delivery proposal for each course to the Committee On Online Learning (COOL). For those teaching in online or hybrid delivery for the first time at Chabot College, a formative Course Site Review must also take place. Online Course Approval Process Overview
