Office of Student Life Scholarships

Chabot College Classified Senate Student Assistant Scholarship Award – 1 @ $500

Purpose:
This scholarship, is to acknowledge the work and contribution made by Student Assistants at Chabot College.

(Only currently working Student Assistants may apply.)

Eligibility Criteria:
Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Applicant must be currently working as a Student Assistant on campus.

Chabot College Classified Senate Scholarship - 2 @ $250

Purpose: This scholarship is to help Chabot College students for their academic pursuits.

Eligibility Criteria:
Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Pacific Dinning - 2 @ $500 Each

Purpose:
The Purpose of this scholarship is to recognize students who will be transferring to a 4-Year college.

Eligibility Criteria:
Applicant must be transferring to a 4-year college.
Accumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Zermeño Family Scholarship- 1 @ $500

Purpose:
The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize a Latina student who is committed to the community, to education, and to family.

Eligibility Criteria:
Applicant must be a PUENTE participant in good standing.
Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Student Senate of Chabot College Scholarships

Student Senate of Chabot College Scholarships

The Student Senate is so proud to provide $30,000 worth of scholarship to Chabot College's student body to support students in achieving their academic goals and in recognition of outstanding leadership and service to the community. This year the Student Senate will be awarding a grand total of $30,000 to 40 Chabot students.

To apply for a Student of Chabot College Scholarship, please complete the two essay questions on the following page. Students who complete the two essays will be considered for all Student Senate Scholarships.

Student Senate Scholarships will be awards as follows:

President's Award for Student Leadership - 5 @ $1,000

Board of Trustees Award for Academic Excellence - 2 @1,000 - 3.5 GPA

Reed L. Buffington for Outstanding Contributions to Chabot College 2 - @ $1,000

International Student Scholarship - 3 @ $1,000
- Additional Requirement - Please submit a copy of the first page your I-20 immigration form issued by Chabot College.

Community Service Award - 5 @ $1,000

• Dreamers & Undocumented Students Scholarship - 3 @ $1,000 (1- AB540 recipient, 1- undocumented not receiving AB540, 1- open)
- For student with Undocumented states, AB540, and DACA recipients.
Please note - Any information regarding immigration status is protected by the Family education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and cannot be shared with any outside individual or agencies.
Additional Requirement - Please indicate status as undocumented in at least one of the two mandatory essay questions to be considered.

• Returning Student Scholarship - 20 @ $500 (Chabot College Gift Card)

The Friends of Chabot College Scholarships

Alex Family Allied Health Scholarship - 2 @ $500

Purpose: This scholarship is to help students majoring in the Allied Health field of study.

Eligibility Criteria:
Applicant must be an Allied Health Major
Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
Applicant must be returning to Chabot College for 2018-2019 academic year.
Demonstrates Financial Need

Asian Pacific Islander Education Association (APIEA) Scholarship - 2 @ $500 Each

Purpose: The purpose of this scholarship recognizes students with significant experience with Asian Pacific Islander community and culture, showing persistence in achieving their career and educational goals, and demonstrating a need for support in reaching their future goals.

Eligibility Criteria:
• Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
• Applicant must be currently enrolled at Chabot College in 12 units or more.
• Applicant must have completed at least 12 credit hours at Chabot College.

Barbara & David Mertes Memorial Allied Health Scholarship - 3 @ $10,000

Purpose: This scholarship is to help Chabot and Las Positas College students for their academic pursuits. Student must be enroll in the following programs at either college leading to an AA or similar in the following specific health fields: Biology (emphasis in Allied Health), Dental Hygiene, Emergency Medical Services, LVN-RN, Medical Assistant, and Nursing & Paramedic Program.

Eligibility Criteria:
Applicant must have completed at least 12 credit hours at Chabot College.
Majoring in Allied Health
Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Barnes and Noble Scholarship – 4 scholarships @ $1,000 Chabot College Bookstore gift cards.

Purpose:
The purpose of this scholarship is to provide Chabot College students with books and supplies.

Eligibility Criteria:
• Applicants must be currently enrolled at Chabot College in 12 units or more.
• Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.

Edward E. and Donna L. Martins Scholarship - 5 scholarship @ $1000

Purpose:
The purpose of this scholarship is to provide general support to Chabot students.

Eligibility Criteria:
• Applicant must be currently enrolled at Chabot College in 12 units or more.
• Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.

Ellen LaFleur McIlroy Scholarship - 1 scholarship @ $3,000

Purpose:
The purpose of this scholarship is to provide support to Chabot College students, who are Language Arts major, and have accepted to an accredited four-year college.

Eligibility Criteria:
• Applicants must be currently enrolled at Chabot College in 12 units or more.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Applicants must be Language Arts major.

Esther Goldberg Memorial Scholarship - 2 @ $500

Purpose: This scholarship is to help a student majoring in Political Science/History

Eligibility Criteria:
Applicant must be a Political Science or Social Science Major
Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or Higher
Demonstrates Financial Need.

Fremont Bank Scholarship – 1 scholarship @ $1,000

Purpose:
The purpose of this scholarship is to support students majoring in Applied Technology & Business.

Eligibility Criteria:
• Applicant must be a Applied Technology or Business Major.
• Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.

Dr. Glenn Leuning Scholarship – 1 scholarship @ $1,000

Purpose:
The purpose of this scholarship is to provide general support to Chabot College students who are transferring to a four-year-college.

Eligibility Criteria:
• Applicants must be currently enrolled at Chabot College in 12 units or more.
• Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.
• Completed English 1A with a grade of B or higher.
• Applicant must be transferring to a 4 year college.

Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) Scholarship – 1 scholarship @ $500 plus one year membership dues IMA-East Bay/Northern California Chapter.

Purpose:
The purpose of this scholarship is to support students majoring in Accounting.

Eligibility Criteria:
• Applicants must currently be enrolled at Chabot College with a declare Accounting or Business major.
• Demonstrates service to campus and/or community.
• Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.

JACKSON TRIANGLE HARDER TENNYSON KOSHLAND OPPORTUNITY SCHOLARSHIP – Varies

Purpose:
This scholarship is to help connect residents of South Hayward to education, training, and certification that results in fulfilling careers in Technology, Green Energy, Skilled Trades, and Health Care

Eligibility Criteria:
Applicant must plan to enroll in one of the following certification programs: Technology, Green Energy, Skilled Trades, or Health Care
Applicant must plan to attend one of the following schools: Chabot College, CSU East Bay, Eden Area ROP, or Hayward Adult
Applicant must be one of the following: Resident of 94544, Resident of South Hayward (not 94544), Tennyson HS Graduate, Hayward HS Graduate, or Mt. Eden HS Graduate.

Janet Warning Nursing Scholarship - 3 @ $2,000

Purpose:
The purpose of this scholarship if to support Nursing students.

Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must be currently enrolled full-time in the Nursing Program course of studies at Chabot College (An unofficial transcript is acceptable).
Earned a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
Demonstrate service to the campus community of the public.

JOHN G. MOURA AUTOMOTIVE SCHOLARSHIP – 1 @ $500

Purpose:
This scholarship is to help a student majoring in BMW or Automotive

Eligibility Criteria:
Applicant must have successfully completed at least four of the following automotive courses with a grade of “B” or better.

Mark L. Eisenberg Memorial Scholarship - 2 scholarships @ $500

Purpose:
The purpose of this scholarship is to support students majoring in one of the STEM fields (Computer Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Physics, Biology, or Mathematics).

Eligibility Criteria:
• Applicants must be currently enrolled at Chabot College in 12 units or more.
• Applicants must have completed at least 12 semester units at Chabot College.
• Applicant must be a STEM major.

Marylou Cisneros Memorial Veterans Scholarship – 1 @ $500

Purpose: The purpose of the fund is to help a veteran or active member from a branch of the United States Armed Forces continue their educational pursuits.

Eligibility Criteria:
• Applicant must be an honorably discharged veteran or active member of the U.S. Armed Forces.
• Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
• Applicant must be currently enrolled at Chabot College in 6 units or more.

Melinda Matsuda EOPS AWARD - 2 @ $500.00 EACH

Purpose:
The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize two EOPS students who are first generation college students and have overcome life’s obstacles to accomplish their educational goals.

Eligibility Criteria:
• Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
• Applicant must be an EOPS Student in good standing.

Melinda Matsuda Striving Black Brothers Coalition Scholarship – 2 @ $1,000

Purpose:
The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize two Striving Black Brothers who have overcome the odds to accomplish their educational goals.

Eligibility Criteria:
• Applicant must be a current SBBC student in good standing.
• Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Michael Sorg Scholarship  - 1 @ $350

Purpose: This scholarship is to help Chabot College student for their academic pursuits.

Eligibility Criteria:
Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Applicant must be majoring or have a career goal of Administration of Justice

Osher Scholarships
Full-time (12 or more units per term) = up to $500/semester
Three-quarter-time (9 - 11.99 units per term) = up to $375/semester
Half-time (6 - 8.99 units per term) = up to $250/semester

Eligibility Criteria:
Must be a Chabot College student, with 24 degree applicable units by the beginning of the Fall 2019 semester.
Must be receiving the Board of Governors (BOG) Fee Waiver for the 2019 - 2020 year
Must have applied for a FASFA or the CA Dream Act application for the 2019 - 2020 School year and demonstrate financial need.
Student must meet Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP_ standards, with a minimum 2.00 cumulative GPA during all terms in which the award remains active
Must be enrolled in at least 6 units during all terms in which the awards remains active.

Stephen A. Small "Technicians of Tomorrow" Tool Scholarship - 2 @ $500

Purpose:
This scholarship is to help students in Automotive technology/BMW snap tool voucher.

Eligibility Criteria:
Applicant must have successfully completed at least four of the following automotive courses with a grade of “B” or better.

Sylvia and Juan Espinoza Memorial Scholarship - 12 scholarships @ $150

Purpose:
The purpose of this scholarship is to provide books and school supplies for students graduated from either Brenkwitz Continuation High School or the Hayward Community School, and who will be attending Chabot College in the fall semester following high school graduation.

Eligibility Criteria:
• Applicant must be a graduate from Brenkwitz Continuation High School or the Hayward Community School.
• Applicants must be a high school senior.

Woody Phillips Machine Tool Technology Scholarship - 1 @ $1,000

Purpose: This scholarship is to benefit and support students studying in the Machine Tool Technology Program.

Eligibility Criteria:
Applicant must be currently enrolled in the Chabot College Machine Tool Technology course of Study.
Applicant must have cumulative GPA of 2.5 or Higher.
