El Centro, your one-stop bilingual resource center is dedicated to Chicanx/Latinx and low-income student success.
We provide:

- Peer Support with applying to Chabot, registering for classes, completing forms, and navigating online platforms.

Hours of Operation
We are open for in-person services to answer general questions, help apply to Chabot, register for classes, and/or provide technical support (e.g. Zonemail, Canvas, DegreeWorks).
Office will be CLOSED on:

- November 10, 2025: Veterans' Day (Holiday)

Academic & Career Counseling
We have 1-hour bilingual counseling appointments available for in-person, via Zoom or phone call. Appointments can be scheduled by calling or visiting El Centro.
- Career/Major Exploration
- Personal/emotional concerns
- Associate Degree and University transfer planning
- Evaluation of progress toward graduation or transfer
- Course Planning, 3 or more semesters (SEP) comprehensive
- Academic Standing: Probation
- Evaluating a transcript from another college
Counseling Drop-ins are short sessions between 10 and 15 minutes long and operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Drop-ins are designed for quick questions or immediate assistance.
- Support and questions regarding your academic goals

- One semester academic planning (SEPA)
- Submitting counseling forms - for example: Excess units, Petition to repeat, Prerequisite overrides & challenges, Prerequisite challenges, Substitution waivers.

Financial Aid Advising
30-minute appointments provide one-on-one, personalized financial aid support for more complex or time-intensive needs. Appointments can be scheduled by calling or visiting El Centro.
- Step-by-step assistance with completing FAFSA or CADAA applications.
- Guidance on Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) appeals.
- In-depth review and explanation of financial aid packages, including Cal Grant, Pell Grant, and other awards.
- Resolving issues on your financial aid application.
Drop-ins are designed for quick questions or immediate assistance. These sessions are shorter and operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
Examples of Drop-In Topics:
- Checking the status of FAFSA, CADAA, or submitted documents.
- Resetting passwords or accessing financial aid portals.
- Minor corrections or updates to applications.
- BankMobile Questions.
- General questions about deadlines, forms, or eligibility.
