Photography
We will provide a rich and thorough grounding in the skills and aesthetics of photography to allow our students to succeed in a radically shifting field of photography.
The mission of the Photography Department at Chabot College is to provide the finest of instruction in the use of traditional and contemporary photographic techniques.
What do they do?
Photographers use their technical skills and creativity to capture and produce professional‑quality images of people, places, objects, and
events. They use digital cameras, lighting equipment, and photo‑editing software to
create images for many purposes, including portraits, news, advertising, fashion,
and documentation.
Work Environment
Photographers work in many settings, such as studios, offices, outdoor locations,
or client sites. Many are self‑employed and may travel for events like weddings or
news assignments. Work hours can be flexible and may include evenings, weekends, or
seasonal schedules. The job often requires standing for long periods, carrying camera
equipment, and working closely with clients or creative teams.
