Part-Time and Substitute Faculty – Automotive Technology Pool

 

Chabot College is seeking part-time instructors to be in an on-going pool to teach Automotive Technology.  Minimum and/or desirable qualifications to teach in this discipline are as follows:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s Degree & two years experience or

    • Associate’s Degree and six years experience or

    • Equivalent

  • 6 years experience as an automotive technician, or equivalent

  • ASE Certifications: A6, G1, and area of instruction

  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of working with students from diverse cultural, ethnic, socioeconomic, academic, language, and disability backgrounds

Desirable Qualifications:

Community College teaching experience utilizing technology; professional experience as an automotive technician; practical experience in automotive related areas such as engine repair, brakes, electrical systems, transmissions, engine performance, emission systems, suspension, steering, alignment, and air conditioning; practical experience in electric, hybrid, and alternate fuels technology; ability to involve students in instruction; experience with development and implementation of student learning outcomes and utilization of results for improvement of student learning; commitment to professional growth; ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing; strong computer skills; membership in professional automotive organizations; ASE Master Automotive Technician; ASE L1; California Smog Check Instructor; California Smog Check Inspection and Repair licenses.
