My name is Mike Sherburne and I work in the Automotive Technology department.
I was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. My family moved around a lot until my freshman year of high school when we landed in Campbell, California where I presently reside.
I have been working professionally in the automotive industry since 1975. It started when I was a young boy, hanging out at the local gas station working in the repair shop. At the age of 16, I started working in an independent automotive repair facility and then started teaching in 1984 at a private vocational school in Fremont, California. In 1999, I started teaching for BMW of North America in their automotive repair and technology departments. I have had the privilege of teaching students that are just starting in the industry and technicians that are currently working in the field. In 2009, I began working at Chabot College implementing the only Associate of Science degree program in BMW technology west of the Mississippi. I am very happy to continue to have the privilege of working with students and helping them to achieve their goals.
I have an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Automotive Technology, ASE Master Certified including L1, Enhanced Smog Certified Training Instructor, California State Smog license, BMW Certified, MACS Certified Instructor, and BMW certified facilitator.
When I'm not at school enjoying my students, I'm at home with my family. I have a loving wife of 32 years (and counting)! We have been blessed with two children Bridgette and Daniel. In 2009, my wife and I changed our names to Lola and Grandpa. Our daughter Bridgette blessed us with a beautiful granddaughter named Danni Lorraine.
I look forward to working with you here in the Automotive Technology Department at Chabot College.
