What is an Automotive Technician? 
Automotive technicians diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicles to ensure they run safely and efficiently. They work on engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems. Tasks range from routine maintenance to complex engine repairs and diagnostics. 

How to Become One 
Most technicians start with a high school diploma or GED, followed by training at a vocational school, community college, or through an apprenticeship. Many employers prefer ASE certification. Hands-on experience and ongoing education are key to staying current with hybrid and computerized systems.

• Reading technical manuals 

Work Environment 
Technicians work in repair shops, dealerships, or fleet facilities. The job is physical and may include evenings or weekends.
