The Learning Connection
Center for Teaching and Learning
Welcome!
"Who dares to teach must never cease to learn"
~John Cotton Dana~
The Chabot College Center for Teaching
and Learning is currently being developed to:
- Encourage a climate that inspires,
nurtures, and rewards faculty and staff efforts toward professional
development in order to achieve their desired level of teaching excellence;
- Assist instructors in solving
current teaching and learning problems;
- Assist instructors in choosing
issues which, when explored, promise to achieve greatest results in both in
teaching excellence and student learning.
The CTL will strive to achieve these
goals by:
- Partnering with Institutional
Research, Staff Development, Program Review, and the Library in order to ask
the right questions and provide access to information related to the
questions;
- Consulting with instructors;
- Referring instructors to resources
both within and beyond the college;
- Creating venues and providing
facilitation for collegial conversations about teaching and learning;
- Maintaining a “Good-to-Know” link
on the CTL webpage;
- Bringing in experts from both
within and beyond the college;
- Organizing requested workshops
that address issues of concern;
- Organizing conferences related to
aspects of teaching and learning
In addition, the CTL will partner with
the Instructional Technology Center to support instructor and staff efforts to
keep current in the ways technology supports teaching and learning.

Teaching and Learning Good-to-Know Links appear to the left. Enjoy!
