A composer, arranger, and improviser,
Patrick Francis holds degrees from Millikin University, San
Francisco State University, and Arizona State University, where he
earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree with Frank Koonce. Patrick has
also performed in master classes for Manuel Barrueco, David Leisner,
Nicolas Goluses, Robert Wolff, Ricardo Cobo, Carlos Barbosa-Lima, and
Jakob Lindberg.
Patrick has written and arranged for the
SFGQ, as well as created sound designs for dance, theater, and video,
including the original score for the full-length feature film, "Black
Eyed Dog." His original works have been recorded by the SFGQ, guitarist
Teja Gerken, and guitar and flute ensemble, Duozona. Selections from his
clarinet and guitar duo's album "Verdes Años" have been featured on
NPR's "All Songs Considered." His original music, lessons, reviews, and
articles regularly appear in the pages of Acoustic Guitar, Play Guitar,
and Guitar Teacher magazines. Patrick currently teaches at San Jose
State University, Chabot College, and privately in San Francisco. His
guitar is by Paulino Bernabe. |
