A Chabot College application must be submitted to the college prior to applying to the Dental Hygiene Program. This application can be submitted electronically by going to http://www.cccapply.org/Applications/California_Community_College/apply/Chabot_College.html. Once you have done this, you are ready to apply to the Dental Hygiene Program. The Dental Hygiene application period begins November 15th of each year.
The Dental Hygiene application may be downloaded on or after November 15th and must be printed, completed and postal mailed with a postmark dated no later than January 31, 2008. To receive confirmation of the mailing we recommend you obtain a "Certificate of Mailing" from the U.S. Postal Service at the time of mailing. The Dental Hygiene application will only be available for download from November 15, 2007 through January 31, 2008.
The applicant is responsible for making sure the Dental Hygiene Program application and work-in-progress verification have been received in the Special Admissions Office and postmarked no later than January 31.
The applicant is responsible for making sure the standard Chabot College application and ALL college transcripts have been received by the Special Admissions Office and postmarked no later than January 31.
Request for preliminary transcript evaluations must be made through the Counseling Department http://www.chabotcollege.edu/Counseling/
NO APPLICATION will be considered after the specified deadline date of January 31. It is the candidate's responsibility to make sure all required documents are in the Special Admissions and Admissions and Records Offices postmarked no later than January 31.
Upon the close of applications we will start the evaluation process. All applications are evaluated for completion of prerequisite courses, repeated courses, and residence in the district. If the minimum requirements are met in these areas, a point assignment formula is used. Eighteen students having the highest point totals are placed into the class. All other qualified applicants are put on an alternates list. Positions on the alternates list are assigned in order from highest to lowest point total.
It is the student's responsibility to ensure the transcripts submitted contain up to date information. A good way to check is to request one for yourself that you can review and keep before submitting the sealed official transcript.
Students are notified of their placement status as soon as this evaluation is completed. Usually, notification occurs late in April or early May, but no later than May 31st.
If a student who has been placed into the class decides, for some reason, not to accept placement into the program, the next alternate on the list will be offered a place in the program.
All applications and supporting materials must be submitted by the January due date each year.
Note: Chabot College does not maintain a waitlist. Non-accepted applicants must reapply each year. An application from a previous year WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. It is suggested that prospective students apply to other accredited Dental Hygiene Programs as well.
